Hi Anne,

I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. Pamper yourself for a few weeks!

~~~~~~~
One question, my skin above the incision is completely numb. They
said it was normal and I should have the feeling back in 6 MONTHS!
Did anyone else experience this?
~~~~~~~

I also have had numbness around my myo incision/scar. It's been TEN months

since my surgery and I still haven't regained full sensation. It has steadily

immproved, though. I wonder about this all the time. I do remember the same

feeling when I had my 1st myo/c-section. I can't remember how long it lasted,

but do know it eventually went COMPLETELY away. Take care.

Kim

Tina:

I have had three myos. Two being last year. I am currently pregnant but I had

to do a IVF cycle

to get pregnant. I tried on my own with no luck. My fibroids have come back

again but at least I

finally did get pregnant. I know of a bunch of women from another myo board

that have gotten

pregnant after a myomectomy. I also know of several women who like myself had

to turn to other

options to help us along.

Robyn,

How fast did your fibroids come back - if you had 2 myos last

year?!?! That must be very frustrating for you - and something I'm

not ready to think about since I'm less than a week removed from

mine - did they come back with symptoms as bad as the first time or

was pregnancy the issue for you? I certainly hope mine don't decide

to come back, but as long as they don't come back as painfully as

before I'd be ok!

Markay:

My 2nd myo was last April and withing three months they came back. I was on

clomid which caused

one of them to grow quite large in a matter of a month. So I was scheduled to

have a laproscopy

done to remove it so i could try to get pregnant again and it turned into a

myomectomy due to some

complications in December. I tried to get pregnant for 4 months and I couldn't

so this past April

I decided to go right to IVF. During my first u/s they found two small fibroids

on the outside of

my uterus. My RE still went through with the IVF. My u/s after I conceived

they found a fibroid

in the uterus on the other side of the baby but still small. I haven't had

another u/s since

August so I don't know if they got bigger. My main symptoms were back ache,

major constipation no

matter what I ate. I never had bleeding in between. Instead I would go days

without a period.

When you are trying to conceive and need to caculate when you ovulate this

became really hard.

I also know alot of women who fibroids never come back. I just happen to be a

fibroid and scar

tissue breeder. Its a miracle I got pregnant on the first IVF try.

Don't worry about yours coming back. If they do they do. Nothing you can do to

prevent that.

Hi Robyn,

My doc had to cut into my uterus, so I guess that's why he advised me

that I'd have to have a c-section. I'm the opposite of you though,

I'd rather do a vaginal birth, I don't want another surgery if I can

help it!

Hi Anne:

I am sure I will change my mind later and want a vaginal birth but I

guess since I have two myo scars I figure they can just cut it open

again. Too bad there isn't a zipper there hey? Then they can just

unzip it and take the baby out. Ha ha.

Robyn,

Trust me on this one, you don't want a C-Section if you can avoid

it. I have had three and with the first one I didn't really

understand what was involved. With my last one the OB that delivered

me (not my regular OB) wrote under findings, " Significant thinning in

the lower uterine segment. " I asked my OB what that meant and he

said it was from my prior C-Sections and that it meant that I was at

higher risk for uterine rupture. I also have numbness from my belly

button down and he said that I was lucky that it was only numbness

and not pain. He said, " When you do a C-Section you dissect that

entire region and nerve damage is not uncommon. " (He really did say

dissect!) Sounds like it is also common for myomectomies.

Bottom line, I would love to have another child but now I'm probably

looking at a myomectomy in order to become pregnant and I'm a little

hesitant to cut up my uterus any further and then expect it to carry

a baby to term.

Anyone want to give me one of their kids?

DeAnn

P.S. Anyone undergoing surgery in the Salt Lake City area who needs

support, let me know. I would be happy to come over and help you

out - walk your dog or whatever.
