GM,

REALLY A GOOD INFORMATION AND IN CITIES WE MAY NOT USE FIRE WOOD IN SIDE OUR HOUSES BUT IN A TRIP / PARTY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CHECK THE AMOUNT OF FUEL POURED ON SOME FIRE CAMPS BECAUSE OF .....

SO LET US TAKE CARE AND ADVISE OUR MEMBERS

Dear friends,

Thought to share this with u so that we can save some ones life.

Happened to one of our elite (Intellectual group) colleague some where in India.

Rgds

Dinesh

I just wanted to report this near miss incident that happened in my house.

Last Sunday (3rd June 06), I wanted to take a bath and I tried using the water from the solar heater and it wasn't working. There was no power at home so the electric geyser wasn't working either. We have an old style firewood heater which I could use if I could manage lighting some fire in it. So I embarked on the fire lighting project. I gathered some dry firewood from under the nearby coconut tree, got some coconut fiber, got a match box, and arranged the firewood with gaps in between to ensure there was enough oxygen flow to let the flame burn continuously. Everything was set, except my (in) experience in lighting fire let me down. I just managed producing lot of smoke but no fire. With tears in my eyes (due to the dense smoke) I went out and came back with vengeance this time with 2 liters of Kerosene. I poured the Kerosene into the fire place. No fire. Th e smoke just became denser this time with the addition of Kerosene. I poured some more (actually a lot more). No fire again. I decided to try lighting it with a match box now and then the unthinkable happened. There was a burst of flame from the kiln. The flame spread so fast in the air that I just could not react (not even a reflux). My hand and leg got burnt. The burns are minor and luckily didn't cause too much damage. The fire stopped in about 15 to 30 seconds. Luckily the 2 liters of Kerosene (in a plastic Pepsi bottle) was lying far away from the kiln. If it was any closer, the potential of disaster was very high. The key learning is to be very careful when handling highly inflammable materials. Also these things are better handled by an experienced person.

THIS IS FOR AN INMFORMATION AND WHAT WE DO IN OUR HOUSES

MANY TIMES WE SWTCH ON ELECTRICAL GEYSER IF THAT IS NOT WORKING BECAUSE OF NO POWER WE WILL GO TO NEXT AND NEXT THEN WE FORGETT SWITCTING OFF ALL

SAME THING WITH WATER TAPS

TV AND OTHER SYSTEMS

THIS MAY CREATE MANY UNWANTED INCIDENTS

WATER TAPS

ADIVISE ALL AND MAKE AN HABIT OF CLOSING TAPS SWITCHING OFF ELECTRICAL SWITCHES BEFORE LEAVING THE SPOT
