Yesterday, I had to go over to the city, to see the surgeon that did my liver

resection in 2010.  I had no idea why.  Obviously I was fine!!

Did I ever tell you that I didn't like this Dr. right from the start??  Well,

this visit didn't make that change at all.  You know the type!  The high mucky

muck specialist that has absolutely no bedside manner.  When I say that, I don't

mean that he has to be careful that I'll shatter if he gives me bad news.  In

fact, any news at all would have made this visit a whole lot better.

He sits there and looks like he's studying the CT report.  All of a sudden, he

says a TACE procedure, that's what we'll do.  Except for telling me that there

would be a tube inserted through my groin to the liver he said nothing else.

This is the type that does not like being questioned.  I told him that I am

fully prepared that this could be the end of my life.  Then, he mumbled

something and all I got was, we'll do this and maybe my wish would come true.

Needless to say, many hours later, when we finally got home, I sat down to

research this TACE procedure.  I was not liking what I was reading!  Basically,

it's putting the tube in and shooting chemo through to the tumors.  However, in

absolutely no way whatsoever, is it a cure.  In fact, in the very least, I would

have to go back 6 months later to have it done again because it might not do

it's job.  Well, now I have my back up!!!

I've told my parents, my son and loads of friends.  I will not do anymore

chemo!!!  I want a quality of life, not a quantity.  So, went to my GP today, to

talk it over with her.  She said that she would either talk to the Gastro, who's

office is just upstairs from her or, she would contact mine.  This evening, she

called to tell me that she had the chat with the local Gastro, when they ran

into each other at the hospital.  He told her pretty much what I already knew.

This is only something to prolong my life by months.

So, I'm mulling the whole thing over and over!  Why be sick to get an extra 3 -

6 months?

Has anyone got any input on this??

Gloria
