Guest guest
As far as I'm aware, little is known about what causes uterine muscle cells to mutate and form fibroids. If a woman has several fibroids, as is very often the case, is it thought that these fibroids all developed at the same time? Why wouldn't a woman develop fibroids more than once?? It seems to me that the information I've read implies that we don't. I've read that the regrowth of fibroids after myomectomy is probably because small fibroids which were undetected at the time of the myomectomy grow larger in time. And why don't we see fibroids growing after UAE? The uterine artery recanalises; doesn't that mean there should be a blood supply available to any new fibroids? I'd be interested in reading theories about why UAE is so successful in preventing regrowth of fibroids.
