Guest guest
you had a point, I decided to have my phone separated from my books and music. I do not want to see my soul to ATT so I do not have the Iphone.I may change my phone every 2 years but my other device I keep it longer.I went for the Itouch, I think I have 32 gigs, it is a good idea to have room to growth.I have my epocrates, medscape, MPR, and some books from skyscape.com ( 5 minutes pediatric, internal medicine, emergency, john Hopkins antibiotic guide, nelson atb for kids, harriet lane for peds etc)I have some pics ( like 1000) so when I am in the road I can see my family in my device.I also have some apps ( icons that you download that content software) I can use even without internet access. you asked me about charging it, it does not come with a charger. Guest guest
You might look into an android phone. Or blackberry. Camera, email, music, all of the features you are looking for. But will cost more than $30/mo. I personally don't like the blackberry (steve just got one to replace the iPhone), and our son has an htc aria (android). When we added 's phone, we got him the minimum data plan, which is plenty because he mostly uses it on wi-fi. Guest guest
If you move to Seattle I can help you more with computer issues, or that BLAKE, or whomever the tech expert was from the last imp camp in Denver..assuming I find a job in Seattle or start my own practice of course... there are many great android phones, but looking at how you type on email they might not be for you...they are generally far more complicated and technical than an iphone or ipod touch. Simplicity is the apple model, Android always tons of customization at the cost of complication. I doubt you would like a blackberry since its not nearly as cool as an iphone. The touch interface is the bomb. I mean, apple is adapting part of it for its laptops now..Iphone 4 has a good camera--the ipod touch 4th generation has a camera but its crippled -can do video but no flash for low light so takes pretty poor pictures. Iphone 4 would have much easier data access than ipod touch-- although you pay for it. Of course if you were NOT a heavy data user than ATT has cheap plans ($25 a month I think)--or if you hate ATT Verizon has the iphone of course. Iphone 4 certainly can play Mp3s. If you install itunes you can find and download all kinds of great educational/free podcasts..AAFP, etc..and music...texting on iphone--I doubt it would be tough and autocorrect would be your friend. Also I think there is a strong rumor that apple will soon release a new iphone 5 in september, and might also have a pre-paid or lower cost iphone 4 type device that would have most of the features in a more plastic case. Maybe that would be up your alley? Maybe my new business should just be low cost tech info to imp doctors? not if I have to compete with gary though..As I sit here and type this I find an article in family practice management " Is busy good? " and its so true. Virtually all of my partners at my former practice are super packed with double or triple booked appointments and having huge backlogs to see them..and panic when they show up for a day and every slot is not full...I never wanted to practice that way and I hope I can practice a bit more sanely in the future. Although I hear in king county seattle it might be impossible...

I am talking about spending money aren't I?Maybe I should buy new shoes:)so how do you CHARGE the i touch thing it does not come with a charger?? Adolfo says you have to buy somethign else.Isn;t that dumb? Why wouldn it come with a charger?? He says you hook it to the lap top Does the laptop charge it?? an android phone will make my typing look bad? Hehe You should have seen my typing 4 yrs ago .This is good Do these android phones do the apps like Adolfo has epocrates and 5min books etc? I am vacillating between one device , that might cost more and annoy me by making me go to The Store of A Thousand Plans vs 2 simple devices one of which is way cool Yeah that Is busy good? thing was good If you move to Seattle I can help you more with computer issues, or that BLAKE, or whomever the tech expert was from the last imp camp in Denver..assuming I find a job in Seattle or start my own practice of course... there are many great android phones, but looking at how you type on email they might not be for you...they are generally far more complicated and technical than an iphone or ipod touch. Guest guest
I was not referring to our IMPS. I was talking to an expert in the area and they note most of the major medical centers are being played off each other by regence and premera--and as a result most have to put their primary care docs on the treadmill to keep things going. IMPs I am sure have better solutions..I hope... It technically does not come with a charger, it comes with a cable to plug into your computer, but you can GET a charger for a little more--its not the end of the world.I guess android also has autocorrect so you wont lose THAT much! You can certainly get epocrates for android, and even medscape (free) and I believe 5 min consult books as well.Sadly the biggest headache is going to the store to figure out which one works, and sales people are frequently not helpful--perhaps just checking web sites for att wireless and verizon might be safer than dealing with a cell phone salesman. Over past 2 years finally migrated off the palm platform as I saw it going, before then my treo phone was finally my all in one device, but very heavy. The blackberry (curve) for me is ok, but there are lots of drawbacks -- I doubt would like it! (If you're coming to Silver Spring I'll show you!). Although I can load mp3s easily on the blackberry, I've started to load READING books (yes, I do like to read, and perhaps I don't look up as much as you young wipper snappers do, I DO have Epocrates) and some of those don't run on the blackberry! I have and Noble reading program (Nook) on Blackberry, but also on an 8 gig ipod I took back from my 14 year old when she upgraded. Book reading better there on Ipod, but print is better on the blackberry, for me anyways. I expect soon enough we'll all use Ipads or similar; my older netbook of 2 years is giving me some trouble anyway. I use it as a backup to access the net at the office, but am finally moving to an ASP version of my software so I'll be off the netbook soon. Probably will get to the ipad level devices but get rid of my dedicated modem then when I upgrade phone. Unlike most IMPs my IT bill per month is shameful -- will rectify as I can do so. Guest guest
RE ipod touch vs blackberry. I still rather use blackberry than ipod touch phone for: 1) email/txt -- blackberry has very nice springy keys. 2) playing mp3 files -- blackberry works like a secondary hard drive; you can throw any file on it you like, and I don't like the iTunes synch for the ipod touch. 3) I like the push email, but use txting more than email for the blackberry. I'd like to swich to the torch for the blackberry, as I miss the touch screen of the palm. Verizon not supporting Torch yet (blackberry with a touch screen BUT a flip out keyboard. I really really like 1 device -- but am getting used to reading on the ipod touch (not interneted). The blackberry works fine for me about 1.5 days and I have an extra battery but rarely use it. Need to turn off the bluetooth to help the battery life. Also the memory fills up and sometimes you have to pull the battery to clear and reboot it. Matt in Western PA Re: Ipod touch/devices you had a point, I decided to have my phone separated from my books and music. I do not want to see my soul to ATT so I do not have the Iphone. I may change my phone every 2 years but my other device I keep it longer. I went for the Itouch, I think I have 32 gigs, it is a good idea to have room to growth. I have my epocrates, medscape, MPR, and some books from skyscape.com ( 5 minutes pediatric, internal medicine, emergency, john Hopkins antibiotic guide, nelson atb for kids, harriet lane for peds etc) I have some pics ( like 1000) so when I am in the road I can see my family in my device. I also have some apps ( icons that you download that content software) I can use even without internet access. you asked me about charging it, it does not come with a charger. It comes with a connector, you can connect via usb port to a computer. You can buy a lot of charging devices after market. I have a charging dock in my night table and I can play music also. I have a device that I call " the spider" I bought at costco.com that allows me to charge 6 different devices at the same time( it has a port and connector for the itouch). you ask me about email, I can tell you that I can check my email with the itouch, you have to go to settings and look for the email part and input your email and password and you will be able to read and respond to your email. I also have my calendar combined ( the itouch and google one). If you are a PC/window user you wont know where to navigate the internet in a itouch. You will have to look for an icon named: Safari, you just click on it and you can navigate the internet. you will have to connect to the wifi or wireless internet before trying to navigate the web. when I travel I encounter some airports that give you free wifi and you can check a lot of stuff with your itouch. I was in Managua Nicaragua one time and I used their wifi to connect and send texts to family members in the states to let them know about my traveling info because of a delay with text plus ( it is free). I think the learning curb is there for you, it will be up to you if take this challenge. I can tell you that I am very happy with my Itouch, it is a robust and strong device but its not perfect. Hope that my long post help you make a decision ( like what novela watch next). my 1/2 cent, Adolfo Sent from my iPad thankstrying to decide new phone or current little cheap p hone + iod touch(one device or two but hours less troubel to buy ipod touch over internt than to go to phone store and owrk out deals and deviceno iphone here.Am looking for - a camera for work an d play both, my digital camera lens will not extend anymoremy current phone has a camera but the pictures cannot be snet anywhere /nor downloaded., sigh presume ipod touch can do that -- occasioan data email access . Guest guest
Love my new iPad.  Does not have 3G, but am considering using my phone for a Bluetooth device, but as of yet have not had to do so because my iPhone does everything my iPad does, just in miniature.  But my older eyes are enjoying the new iPad.   If I were to pick one thing that could do everything jean wants it todo, I would go iPhone, but that is apparently not an option in Maine...too bad .  It is user friendly and does everything on the list that jean had.  Do you not have Verizon or at & t in your part of the world, Jean?  If you have to get 2 devices, you might skip the iPod touch and go straight to iPad.  Larger screen, still very portable, plays music and movies for travel, does email, takes pictures and movies, but you do need to connect it with iTunes occasionally.  If you go with the3g version, you can get email and Skype when traveling.  But it is lots more money, and I still have trouble typing on it, although it does work nicely with the apple wireless keyboard, too.  I do know that you can turn on and off the data so that you pay only for the months when you actually use data and don't have wi-fi. Too many choices....sorry to add to the mix, but steve actually works on his iPad in the office instead of a tablet and he ( and patients ) loves it. Pratt   RE ipod touch vs blackberry.
