Hi everyone,

A text in English that I am editing refers in passing to " revealed

latent tuberculosis " .

I find the phrase to exist almost exclusively in obvious translations.

Obviously " latent tuberculosis " is valid, but the word " revealed " should

probably sit be something else.

Does someone know the correct word that should be used here? I don't

think " detected " is correct either, but I'm pressed for time and haven't

found a valid alternative.

I agree with Karmenu. 'Revealed' is of general usage:

Hi ,

If I had to translate into FR, I would say : " tuberculose latente

confirmée " or " avérée " , i.e. literally " confirmed, established " , as

opposed to " suspected " .

I have had a little time to look around and i noticed that the

alternatives (detected, identified, diagnosed) tend to be used as verbs

in the sentences I find; whereas " revealed " , although it is not used a

lot, when it is used, is more often used as an adjective, as it is in my

text.

In addition, I found that the phrase " revealed latent tuberculosis " was

used in one of articles cited in my paper. So I think I'm going to be

all right using it here.

I sort of wonder why they need to use the word at all. There is no

contrast with " hidden " latent tuberculosis. However, " ours is not to

reason why... " .
