Guest guest
I just went and research a very little bit about this Gabapenten, since I really didn't know what you are talking about. Well, I'm sure no further advanced. I'm fairly confident that no one here is taking it for seisures. I do know of another email buddy that was prescribed this med for a short time. ________________________________  Bobby, Terry (my late husband) was on Gabapenten for neuropathy and was removed from it after his liver disease had become decompensated. His doctor would not even discuss allowing him to continue the med. I don't have neuropathhy and don't take Gabapenten, but deal with the nose bleeds also on a daily basis. I hope you can get the Gabapenten adjusted so that you don't suffer the side effects. Many hugs............. Diane C. from TN

Guest guest
 Dear Gloria,(and hi Diane!) to clarify, I have a bone tumor on my left seventh rib, which has caused severe pain and may have to be removed, and -or biopsied. They sent me to an oncologist at the rocky mountain cancer center, who wanted a bone scan done. The bone scan showed no malignancy in the rib, but it did show lots of active degenerative joints. Because of the bone scan, I was diagnosed with arthritis in my ankles, shoulders, wrists, fingers, upper and lower back, and ribs, sternum and clavicle. The definitely explains my recurring chest pain, and even some rib, spleen/liver pain. I have had to do several treadmill tests to rule out heart conditions, and had to wear a holter monitor for 30 days, but as it turns out, it is the joints in my sternum, not my ticker! SO, I went to see a rheumatologist, and he said that I also have signs of fibro myalgia. Once I told this to my pain dctor, he sugested a Gralise (extended release Gabapentin) starter pack, since I have been struggling with one spot on my leg which feels numb and like hot grease burning all the time. http://gralise.com/4_0_Getting_Started_Gralise.html The Gralise is a HUGE pill, three at a time, 1800 milligrams during supper, and is extended release, but really is a MASSIVE dose. Maybe it isnt causing my platelets to go lower, but they are always low anyway, now I have an almost constant nose bleed in which the blood tastes like the drug. The caveat is that the medicine is working, and insurance is paying for it, although I did have a scare, (I ran out of the starter pack, and the insurance hadn't approved it, and I had to throw the pharmacist and doctor's assistant over the clothes line with their tails tied together , which wasn't a pretty sight. The assistant said that they hadnt heard from the pharmasisct that the med had been denied, and the pharmacist insisted that he had called them, but in the end it got straightened out, and the pharmacist drove to the warehouse personally to pick up this med so I wouldnt miss a complete dose. See it can cause a tonic clonic grand mal seisure if you stop taking it suddenly. The other part of the story is that is is not one, but three MASSIVE pills, 600 milligrams each , taken together during supper. I am getting used t them, though, but it is kind of scary. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all... love, Bobby ________________________________ To: " livercirrhosissupport " <livercirrhosissupport > Sent: Thursday, December 22, 2011 4:12 PM Subject: Re: RE: Bobby & Gabapenten  I just went and research a very little bit about this Gabapenten, since I really didn't know what you are talking about. Guest guest
Thank you for that explanation Bobby!! Your health has certainly not been kind to you for a long time. When I was reading about the arthritis, I couldn't help but remember you saying what you did for a living. That had to be rough on the body. For a long time, I had bad back pains because of what I do for a living. So, I put the money into a proper chair and haven't see the bone cruncher for years. Now the only thing it does, is cause that certain part of my body to grow larger!! Also, I've been occasionally whining about what I think may be arthritis in my left wrist, while your whole body is in pain. I'm usually able to swallow pills better than most people.  However, the way you describe those pills!! yuk  I have a sliding hiatus hernia now and could envision not being able to swallow those pills. Your meds difficulty brings back a thought. I was attending only 1 Pharmacy for my Hep C treatment. But, I don't think people stop to think, it's very expensive medication, so why would you think that the Pharmacy carries it in stock?? I remember one time going in on the Friday and all of the staff were in a bit of a flutter because someone else came in that were just starting treatment. However, they had called another pharmacy and someone was out to pick it up. I could easily imagine that the same thing could happen with any of these not-so-common scripts. ________________________________  Dear Gloria,(and hi Diane!) to clarify, I have a bone tumor on my left seventh rib, which has caused severe pain and may have to be removed, and -or biopsied. Guest guest
Hi Bobby, On thing I heard that helps tremendously if you find yourself in unwanted detox is Loperamide Hydrochloride used for diarrhea. It helps remove some of the horrendous symptoms of opoid detoxification. Something to check out if you or anyone every finds themselves in that position. Guest guest
Thank you very much for the tip. I hope I never find myself in that position. In late summer, Sharon forgot to take her meds one day, and went in to full blown withdrawels for about 12 hours. She get very very sick. We learned a big big lesson.
