That's great . Did you get a letter from MC? Once you are successful w MU, do you still have tocontinue put the CPT code in that your EHR is certified? do you still have to says Rx are sent electronically? Or can you stop these extra steps?

It gave me a confirmation when I was through with the attestation.  We don't use the ehr cpt code.  I recently saw something that said that if you qualify for MU that you are exempt from reporting the e-rx codes, but we are still reporting them.

Apparently if you already have been doing much of the required stuff they can back date the 90 day window: i.e. if I meet the 50% goal for this item and the 80% goal in this item, etc. for 30 days after starting then will acutally back date my start date so I can attest by Oct 1st even though I'm starting my information gathering Sept 1st. It's the percentages more than the dates according to my meaningful use practice management rep sent by my regional office.

Congratulation :)

Can anyone give some info or advice on how to start the CMS MU process? I'm in the early stages of EMR implemenation and need to get "enrolled" and start the process about now. I am totally clueless where to get started. That's not to say I can't bone head through it, like everything else, but some jump starts would be wonderful.

Does anyone know how the CMS incentive payments work with respect to number of providers? Is a two physician practice eligible for $44,000, or $44,000 x 2? WK

4/16/11-7/16/11.  We upgraded to the MU certified version overnight on 4/15 and I started running reports right away to see where we needed to focus our attentions.  We were at least 10% higher than the minimum requirements on all areas - some much higher.  There are still a few things we need to figure out in our system (smoking and weight loss for the Clinical Quality Measures - but you only have to report that you can track those, not hit a certain %), which we will work on the remainder of this year so that we can hit the ground running for our 365-day attestation in 2012.

Once you have your PECOS registration completed then contact your Regional Extension Office - find your using the link: www.regionalextensioncenters.com. I got my original registration packet and saw 750.00 sign up fee and put it away never realizing there was a Appendix G which tella you if you already have EMR then that fee is waived. Sorta thought I was out of the race for this year but the rep said I was ahead and was pleasently surprised. Interestingly they require an on site office visit for 3 hours which was initially annoying -- most patients bulk at being observed but now I see it as an opportunity to see where I can improve my efficiency without losing the personal

touch of an IMP. I had done reading upon reading trying to figure it out and the rep had it laid out on a 1 page flow sheet and really cut to the chase making it much, much easier than I anticipated. Good luck.

I believe the incentive is per provider. You become eligible for the full amount if you are receiving at least 24,000 in Medicare payment per year.

Walter first you register with the PECOS system  ( I forget how I did this-we did discuss it on this listserv a few months ago-- try  search )then next  you can look up whether your EHR is certified on the cms site( if not  stop  here)

then  frankly most of it is done  through your EMR  They all are after  this stuff and will show you how to put  each of the measures --see the  non cms link below- into emr so you can get the data you needMy emr support guy was all I needed Well, and KAren Pratt:)

The  process is ; register with pecos then  register with the  ehr program      then play the game for 90 days  counting up you r  measures( x percent  patients have  VS taken X percent have ethnicity listed X percent have had a tobacco inquiry and see,  all this  has  to be done in the right  way for your emr to grab it( I was  always taking bps but I would say  120/80 NOT blood pressure 120/80 so the emr  did not understand and count it   ,

this  will make some changes to your work flow That is always hard   I was paperless but now I have tot give >50% of folks a visit summary. I can do that paperlessly but that turned out t obe more work. Change is  hard.

Each state's Medicaid program may also offer an EHR incentive

program.  Only hospitals are allowed to take both Medicare and

Medicaid incentive payments.  Physicians can only select one or the

other.  State run programs may be more generous and you can

concurrently participate in the Medicare eRx incentive program.

For those who have successfully navigated the obstacle Meaningful Use (meaningful?) course,  how did  you manage the CCD (Contunity of Care) requirement?  Does your EMR  have a built in capability for this output or did you use another route?   thanks,  Ron E

Congrats ! I was able to do it last week as well, so it looks like a lot of us are in the “wait and see” mode.

,For your second year (for us 2012), you have to attest the entire year, not just 90 days. Each year has it's own bonus. I don't think the rules change again (much) until 2013. We are spending the rest of this year tweaking our procedures so that when 1/1/12 hits, we are ready to go.

Yes, I think that " attesting " is usually referring to having completed the 90

days. Since Praxis 5 has not rolled out yet, I don't think any user can yet

" attest " . But I have " registered " .

Done, I backtracked all the info. I have been uploading PQRI data

for the past 2 years and have been using the Beta since February

plus I have used e-prescribing since 2006.

Praxis is not even in their database but the certificate number was

recognized.

I don't see a problem, they even have exclusion for providers that

only have partial patient load on EHR. I used the data I have on the

Beta, hopefully I would have the network version running in a couple

of months.

Only point I could not get was uploading immunization data as I

don't do them.

I have the network version of Praxis running at the office since we

started the office and I have been playing around with the Beta 5

single user since February. An I have 20 tables to prove it, if

need be.

from The Barrio

, are you done with MU on Praxis? or just

starting the 90 days?

How long have you been using Praxis?

I would be careful with this. The beta version released in February was not

certified. Only the newer, updated version was certified last week. If nobody

looks, I suppose you could get away with this, but I don't think it will stand

up to scrutiny. My $0.02.
