Guest guest
An interesting idea but I don't think this is what they are after. If your sole intention was to get as many free tests translated as possible, would you offer the bait project at a ridiculous price? _______________________ Janda En-Czech Translations & Interpreting Medicine, IT/SW, Law, Dne 2.12.2011 15:35, kinory@... napsal(a): > My guess is that the test IS the job. > > >> Anyone fancy taking on this insult just received this Friday afternoon >> from a UK agency? >> >> <I have got approx 6500 words or text to be translated from French >> to English by Monday noon. >> The text is medical records, mosty typed up but some handwriting >> to. Guest guest
Maybe not. But my hypothesis is that experienced translators would, in any case, decline to do free tests. The ones agreeing to do them would not worry about the low rate. > An interesting idea but I don't think this is what they are after. Guest guest
Such offers are basically spam as far as I'm concerned, and so should therefore probably not even be dignified with a reply. Guest guest
True, but how satisfying to tell them to take a hike > Such offers are basically spam as far as I'm concerned, and so should > therefore probably not even be dignified with a reply. > > Regards to all, > > D. > -- > Carnall > dougie.carnall@... > > http://cabinetbeezer.info > > Traduction vers l'anglais > Rédaction de textes en anglais > Coaching pour présentations en anglais > > >

Automated replies that make it clear that the bounce has occurred with no human intervention are acceptable, but the problem is that programming a filter that does this that does not also bounce reasonable offers of work is tricky, given that this came through proz. If you're going to write to anyone, I suggest that the place to start would be proz, because if proz emails start getting too spammy it degrades their value and people will be less likely to renew their membership. Personally I don't get too exercised by it. I got that mail. I calculated the rate/word. I don't work for that. Next. 30 seconds?
