Hello ,

Tubusblockung is some kind of obstruction in the tube, don't know for which

reason (one may think of clots or kinking or technical problems).

Regards

Betreff: DE>EN: Tubusblockung

Been following up various links, but can't decide whether/how this is to do

with cuff pressure.

The context is a study on nasogastric feeding tubes, focusing on the

constitution of the diet itself but listing various problems encountered

during the study.

Hauefigste Ursache fuer eine notwendige Reduzierung bzw. Aussetzung der

Sondenernaehrung war [sic]: therapieresistente gastroduodenale

Passagestoerungen mit erhoehten Rueckfluss von Mageninhalt,

Aspirationsgefahr bei Extubation, Umintubation oder Lockerung der

Tubusblockung und therapieresistente Diarrhoe.

There is no other mention of trach tubes, but these are mainly patients post

brain surgery and/or cerebral trauma so presumably some of them have these

(we know that some of them have been ventilated at some stage).

Thanks,

Hello Charlotte,

Not here. Note that it's the Lockerung that is the problem, not the

Blockung. The tube is a trach tube/airway, and the problem seems to be

deflation of the cuff, which may cause aspiration of stomach content. At

least, this is how I have now decided it must be interpreted (with help

from several people here and elsewhere).

Thanks,
