With a big caveat that I don't translate from French:

The German term Insuffizienz, and its equivalent in Hebrew (!), are used

synonymously and interchangeably*) with 'failure', as in heart failure,

kidney failure.

*) German is big on elegant variation, so if they use one term, they'll

use the other in the next sentence. Literal repetition is supposed to be

poor German style.

Make of that what you will ...

Hi,

I don’t know French, but it may be helpful to know that in Venezuelan

Spanish the term “insuficiencia urinaria†is used as a synonym for

“insuficiencia renalâ€, which is rendered as “renal failure/kidney

failureâ€

into English.

I copy below the Spanish definitions of “insuficiencia renal†and

“insuficiencia urinariaâ€, as well as a link to the English definition of

I don’t know how it is in French, but over here there is a difference

between “insuficiencia urinaria†(=insufficient capacity to urinate due to

kidney failure) and “incontinencia urinaria†(=patients urinate involuntary

because cannot control their sphincters).
