Guest guest
Sandy That is very very sad. Far from being old enough to be that sick!! I couldn't even begin to suggest anything about this. But, please don't blame the tx without knowing what really happened. I think if the tx made her sick enough that she had to be hospitalized for weeks, that they took her off tx. Just wanted to share with you, I did the 3 part tx as a clinical trial. I have been Hep C free, to my certain knowledge, since Oct 2009. It was the 2nd tx that I had to do. Gloria ________________________________  Gosh, my co-worker just called me and said that her 47 yr old sister who was taking the 3 part cocktail for HepC died at age 47 in the hospital. I'm stunned because the only thing this girl had from the treatment was a bad rash, from about a month ago, and a problem with anemia. They hospitalized her and she's been there for several weeks I think and then she had a heart attack. They'd inserted one of those balloons into the groin area to let that do the pumping for the heart to give her heart a rest when she passed. I'm just too stunned for words. The Dr told them they were going to sign off on her death certificate and list vasculitis as the cause of death until the family questioned what actually caused her death. Now they've decided after having a meeting with all the dr's that they'll do the autopsy since her daughter showed concerns over what really happened. I've heard such good things about the 3 part treatment for HepC but am just completely dumbfounded by all this. Anybody have any type of experience with this new treatment. Guest guest
Thanks for the input Gloria. And Congrats on the treatment being successful! That is awesome! I have a friend who's also taking the treatment for the 2nd time. I think the first time they had to stop just 12 weeks shy of her finish date, and she'd started it again just recently. I learned that she is also in the hospital after getting really sick with pneumonia. Sad thing is, with the girl who passed away, they did not stop the treatment, even though she told them that something was not right. She'd been on the phone with her Dr many times before they finally put her in the hospital. I'm sure it's just one of those things, and maybe after the autopsy we'll know more. It's just hard to understand what happened to her. I hope the autopsy brings closure for her family. They are devastated. > Sandy > > That is very very sad. Guest guest
That poor woman!! To know that something is wrong; but, her Dr wouldn't listen is just wrong. We have a young fella in another group that was taking part in a clinical trial. It seemed that he was just getting sicker and sicker and the clinic had those assistants and the word wasn't getting to the Dr. I think. He was pulled from the trial when his kidneys started to shut down and actually, the whole trial was abandonedshortly after. Now he's moved to New Jersey and will be starting all over again, at Hopkins clinic. It's so hard to believe that the hospital kept giving this woman treatment although it would take a ditch digger long to realize that the tx was causing her to be sooo sick. Somedays I would like to put out my shingle and call myself a Dr. LOL ________________________________  Thanks for the input Gloria.
