Guest guest
To answer Jackie D, my husband had no ill effects from TACE, and it is the same thing they use for prostate cancer. My husband did, however suffer side effects to the conventional chemo-embolization where they injected chemo directly into his tumors.  Since his liver was diseased to begin with, it compromised whatever reserve liver function he had left. For the next handful of months he became very sick with liver failure and was transplanted in May of 2010. (he is doing well today) Even with all we went thru God has been good to us. Jackie E. ________________________________ To: livercirrhosissupport Sent: Friday, October 21, 2011 7:23 PM Subject: Gloria falling  Gloria, I would suggest that you have a scan to see if you are growing a sub dural hematoma. As far as prolonging your life with this procedure, it is possible that in 2 months or 8 there will be a way to cure cancer. This procedure would give you a little time for that to happen. I didn't hear Jackie E. say her husband was sick every day following his TACE, but your procedure sounds different. I would still be exploring options were I you. Vomiting every day, mouth sores, muscle cramping for your extra time sounds not so good. Has your doc heard of the TACE? TACE sounds like what my brother had for his prostate cancer. If your cancer will respond to that, it would be my drug of choice. Good luck. Jackie D.

Guest guest
I made an important decision over the past weekend!! All that TACE is going to do is shrink the tumors and might have to be done 3 times to do that. I decided NO. Had enough. So, I talked to my GP on Monday morning. She knew that there was a high probability that was going to be my decision. So - it's totally in the Creator's hands now!! My GP and the Gastro she talks with say that they believe I have a year. Well, dammit, I want to be able to lay out under my awning when our wet winter and spring are done. Haven't been able to do anything like that since 2004. Guest guest
Bobby I believe that with the help of my Spiritual Creator, some family and a whole lot of friends - I can do this. I kinda look back over my shoulder and see what I've already been through, that I would never ever thought I could do!! Also, I've got to find some gentle way to tell people where I'm at with this decision. Sometimes I think that I'll slap the next person that says - you know, I just heard.... or, maybe they'll find a cure... the all time horrible statement - well keep a positive attitude!!! Geez, I think that the fact that I am not in the psych ward, is a testament to my attitude. LOL ________________________________  No one can criticize your decision. Guest guest
What tomorrow brings, should be a pleasure for those of us that have gone through liver disease. The very fact, that I got to open my eyes is a gift. Then I lay there for whatever time it takes, thinking about what I need to accomplish today. Some days, like yesterday, I didn't want to go anywhere. So, I hung out at home in my jammies. Felt great!!! ________________________________  Hi Gloria I am watching you from afar, staying silent, and praying for you. Guest guest
I'm sad to hear this, but it is your decision. I think I would want to fight and try to get a transplant. Of course, I had a liver transplant and did the treatment for Hep C. I'd like for everyone to be able to do what I did and be healthy again. Take care. Guest guest
My understanding was, that I didn't qualify for a transplant. It's not done if the patient has more than 1 tumor.  Therefore, the transplant surgeon did the next best thing. A liver resection. I'd already whipped the dragon out of my body; but, who knows - maybe that's why the cancer got a hold.  Now I'm not being truthful at all here!!! It just appears that the cancer gene was once again awoken and this time it doesn't want to quit. I had cervical cancer when I was 24. Fortunately, the biopsy took care of the cancer and I had my son 4 yrs later. ________________________________  I'm sad to hear this, but it is your decision. Guest guest
Jill Yup! I think Ed gets it as well! However, I have suffered a bit over my decision because of my only child, my son Shon. To some degree, it appears that I'm being a tad selfish by not going through anymore. But, he will come to understand that whatever extra time I may have been able to garner, would be spent sick anyway. So, we see what the next few months brings now. Gloria ________________________________  Gloria, I think you are so brave.... and this is such a personal decision. Ed has told me in the past that when his liver completely fails,he doesn't know if he'll go the route of transplant...for a few different reasons. I'll have to accept whta decision he makes and be there for him and love hime til the end. I haven't posted much lately, but always keep up with the posts. You are such an awesome person . I hope you're with us for a long time. Tell that cancer to go away! Seriously...we'll all be here for you, You know that.                                                                                Love,Jill  We don't remember days, we remember moments. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. ________________________________ To: " livercirrhosissupport " <livercirrhosissupport > Sent: Thursday, November 3, 2011 11:47 PM Subject: Re: Gloria falling  My understanding was, that I didn't qualify for a transplant. I think I would want to fight and try to get a transplant. Of course, I had a liver transplant and did the treatment for Hep C. I'd like for everyone to be able to do what I did and be healthy again. Take care. Penny > > I made an important decision over the past weekend!! > > Gloria > > > > ________________________________ > > >  > Thanks for your post, Jackie. This procedure would give you a little time for that to happen. I didn't hear Jackie E. say her husband was sick every day following > his TACE, but your procedure sounds different. > Good luck. > Jackie D. > >
