Sharon, Your comments are a breath of rational fresh air!

Digna

Britney and her diet

I'm chuckling at all the hullabaloo over what Britney Spears eats! Forget

that her claim to fame right now is not her voice or her dancing abilities but

her odd behavior. Why do we care that she eats fries and drinks too many

coffee drinks? Do we really believe that is what has caused her public

meltdown?

Family history? Fame? Drugs? Alcohol? Stress? Does a taco override all of the

other parts of her life that might have contributed? If that were the case,

then many more Americans would be shaving their heads.

I'm not saying that the woman doesn't have some eating issues. And I'm not

saying that the foods she eats might not contribute to her behavior-although

that is a stretch for me. I'm more inclined to think that what we don't

eat-calories and nutrients-are more apt to affect us than what we do eat.

Do people really think that if she starts eating carrots instead of chips

her behavior will magically normalize?

So I expect that dietitians will be making public comments that end up in

the media about this issue. And there'll be blame tossed at the fast food

companies and the coffee shops but really let's keep our senses about this-the

woman has issues that are probably a bit more pressing than overdosing on

fried

foods!

Another rant from Sharon.
