annie I had itching before my diagnosis, It is from the toxins in the

blood which aren't taken care of by the liver as they should be, so

they circulate in the blood, gradually work their way to the surface

and make youu itch. I haven't really found anything to help much. It

is good to make sure you don't add to the problem by having dry skin,

so a good moisturizing lotion may seem to help some. For me, I just

itch, sometimes until it bleeds and then more blood comes to the

surface with its toxins. A vicious circle. But I have found if I itch

hard enough the pain sensation overcomes the need to itch at least for

awhile. But, I usually have sores spread out all over my body. I

also have kidney disease and it has the same problem, just more toxins

in the blood. Also, if I can get my mind really interested in

something, like talking to other people, then I am not as aware of the

itching. Still I wake up in the middle of the night and find that I

have scratched a new sore, or scratched off an old scab and started

bleeding again. Just one of the lovely things we are blessed with

when we get this disease. We are truly at Dis Ease. One thing I have

found which helps for me, been doing it so long almost forgot it. I

take an antihistamine before I go to bed. Jan

Hubby also had uncontrollable itching...often, the itching was so intense that

it would even wake him up at night...the doctor prescribed him pills of

hydroxyzine HCL (25 mg)...he took the first one last night, and he slept

through the night!...hopefully, the same thing will happen from now on!...he

tried various lotions (even alcohol free ones), and nothing seemed to help...my

email address is also scramey@...

I don't think a moisture lotion or cream helps with the itching from

cirrhosis, what it does is keep you from getting dry skin which can

also cause itching, and two sources are worse than one. jan

Subject: Itching

Good Morning Group! I have a question in regards to my itching. The itchings

go and come. I had them on my belly, my breasts and now my hands. Once they

are gone, they resurface in another part of my body. What is going on? Does

this have to do with my Liver/Cirrhosis Disease?

Wow - that really is technology and a perfect " green " way of doing

laundry!!

________________________________

We use whatis called a laundry pure. It is a device that is attached to the

washer and as water goes through it, silver ion are put into the water and with

a UV light the water gets turned into peroxides which take dirt out of clothes

without detergent and with cold water only. The silver ion probe and UV bulb

gets changed every 3000 loads. Saves on detergent and the water that ge pumped

out has been used to water plants. Now that is technology.

Sent from my iPad

My son was born with excema from the top of his head to his toes. I had a minor

touch of it some years before; but, not for many years. Fortunately, 2 of my

cousins had it bad. So I was a little forewarned about what was coming. It

didn't take long to find out that he could not have any baby products, even if

they said 99.;9% pure. Never could figure out what the pure was. LOL Also,

Bounce Sheets were an absolute no no. However, I was using public washers and

dryers, so there was always residual. I was so excited when I got my own

apartment size washer and dryer. Then I had control of what detergent etc that

I could use.

Since I haven't used dryer sheets for over 30 yrs, that was one problem gone.

All one has to do is poor just a little fabric softener on a rag or something

and throw it in and it doesn't seem to affect the allergies. Also, there are

only 2 detergents on the market that I can personally use. I'm back to using

public laundry again, so I don't worry so much about the residual.

Can't say I have had any prolonged time when everything was good with

the itching. I do know it got a lot better when I discovered I had

been washing my clothes in a washer which was full of soap, and never

got rinsed out. Since I have had my own washer and dryer, it has been is

attached to the washer and

better. but I still have sores on my body from itching and the scabs

start itching so scratch them too, and then a bigger sore. Yes,

antihistamines seem to work well for me too. Jan

> Geez, how stupid I can get!! I tell people about the antihistamine that I

have used for years and then not remember that I have them and they work great

for the itching.
