Fungicide organophosphate, causes rash, liver problems, respiratory problems - but have they also looked at possible fungus? A combination of the two would be devastating. Guest guest
Okay friends, I've just changed to the digest format because I'm getting swamped and looking for solutions. My responses won't be as timely or as frequent, so if you want to get my attention in something short of an evolutionary time frame you'll need to e-mail me directly at kit.keyes@... I will continue to read the digests and pitch in but I'm going to be off line for the next 10 days and the thought of thousands of e-mails intimidated me more than 20 reps of squats to failure or Poliquin's chin-up program. My best wishes for your success over the next 10 days and into the future! To infinity and beyond! (Okay, Betsy likes " Toy Story " ) :=) Stay strong! a little progress each day! Guest guest
Ady, Protein powder really helps. Also if you put a can of beans in with your brown rice as it is cooking, the combination I would count as a carb, yet it will complement each other to provide some complete protein. Lentils and Brown rice work similarly. As to goals, they are great. I'd consider goals on fat loss, strength gain, cardio range goal at your high point (or distance in a certain time). Sometimes discrete measurable goals are helpful in driving you to your overall goals. Lana, You should feel good! You are going in the right direction. I just didn't want you later to have the result go the other way and get discouraged. Focus on the measurements, how much stronger you are, how much better shape and every four weeks or so get a caliper test from an experienced hand. All the best! Jill, I don't count fat grams, but you would count Udo's to see that you get your target amount and count it in your total calories. Some people say not to, but in my opinion it only makes sense to. In many respects, there are no free foods. Get your protein, get your Udo's and scale back on carbs as necessary.

As you can see if you don't re-type the subject in your response, we can't follow your thread. With the online messages, you don't have to do this. Guest guest
I think Lani wrote in about not having a lift at time of explant; I think has my pix on the group site somewhere. I know they are also at the expantation site too with my story.I DID NOT have a lift or anything after my explant . The pix were taken 2 or 3 weeks after the surgery; Now I am 13 months & I still look about the same. I know I promised taking some pix of my scars now; but I am having a hard time finding someone to take the pix!!! LOL As for sending your original pix JUSTINE, What I did was go to Office Max (or any copy store) ; I went on a weekday morning when not too many people were there & asked for assistance from a " female employee " to do color copies of my pix. They were very helpful & it was not embarrassing. Then I mailed them to Jeena at explantation. You can also use these places to SCAN you pix to a disc also. Not very expensive. ****As for the sports bra after surgery...HA! It seems like my p/s did things so different from what I've read; NO I am not criticizing any of your p/s when I say this---I had my drains in for 5 days; was told just to wear a regular bra but with no underwires after they took out my drains. I am so surprised I still good to be honest. But then again, alot of other factors have to be considered; I never had children or a big weight gain. Yes I may look good, but I would NEVER recommend the p/s that explanted me because of his bedside manners. My dog responds to my questions better than my p/s did. I've said it once & I'll say it again: If I had to do it all over again I would have chosen a different p/s. There are MANY good choices on our groups. The ONLY good thing I will say of him was that he DID agree to get these things out of me the very next day. But because he did not answer my post-op questions, it cost me an additional 8 months of pain & frustration trying to figure out WHAT doctor to go to & finding the " mystery pain " in my underarm. Guest guest
I had to wear the ACE wrap until my first postop appt, but was allowed to wear a regular bra if I wanted to. I could do an underwire, but Dr. Huang preferred I didn't so it didn't irritate the fresh scars, and drains. It was no biggee----like wearing a strapless bra, with a reg bra for added support. e ----- Original Message ----- From: shihtzusrock@... I've often thought that Jordan's seizures could be related in some way to a metabolic dysfunction. We have diabetes and reactive hypoglycemia in my family and she's always seemed to have such a strong " need " (or so she thinks) for sugar and starches. Yesterday was our first official day on the diet and it went OK, except for she was asking for " waffus " (waffles) all day. We went to the health food store and bought some things she could have. I made her some Atkins Waffles this morning and believe it or not they are actually edible! She seemed very pleased. The only thing is last night she had the worst night yet for seizures. She was having them every hour and then starting having them every 30minutes. We gave her Diastat to try to break the cycle, but it didn't even work. She still had one an hr. later. The things that were different yesterday was #1 the diet #2 removal of B6 per Dr's opinion and #3 we increased the Lamictal from 2mg in a.m. and 4 mg in p.m. to 4mg and 4mg. in a.m. and p.m. Dr. still says he doesn't think any of her s/s are related to the Lamictal b/c the dose is too low to be affecting her. (I'm not sure how he really knows that, however.) I have a hard time believing the diet could cause that effect on the first day. (She's not even in ketosis yet) So I'm left with thinking maybe the B6? How strange is that? I got a B complex supplement yesterday as she will need to have supplements while on the diet. So, I gave her that this morning, we'll see how she does today. Anyone else have any bad experiences when first starting a ketogenic diet? Also, Zoe you mentioned epilepsy confused with cardiac arrhythmia's. During her long term EEG they did monitor with a single cardiac lead. I'm thinking they would have been able to see something if it were abnormal. I'll start checking her pulse when she's having them to see if I can hear/feel any irregularity. I also thought about checking her blood sugar during a sz. They're so brief however I'd hate to have her wake up and see me sticking her. I don't think she'd understand what was going on... Guest guest
Dear , My experience has been that doctors have completely negated the value of nutritional intervention relative to seizures. Not only is there viable evidence suggesting the role that nutritional deficiencies play in seizures, there is also evidence that many anti-seizure drugs deplete necessary brain nutrients. I think your instinct that the B-6 plays a role is worth pursuing. Another thought would be to investigate P-5-P, which is what B-6 becomes when the body processes it properly. Even passive exposure to insecticides could have impacted Jordan's ability to utilize B-6. I doubt your neurologist will tell you this, however. . . You sound like a very perceptive and wise Mom. Keep up the good work and hang in there! Guest guest
-- we used to always give meds with applesauce aswell, and I dreaded the switch. We started, pre-diet, with ice cream. Then moved to sweetened, frozen, whipped cream, then to plain whipped cream, which he is now fine with. It did take some doing, but he finally made the transition. Applesauce is fine -- its just that the applesauce becomes one of the few allowed fruits -- taking the place of something else. Leo loves fruit so much, and it is so scarce on the diet, that I wanted to give him his fruits straight-up, if you know what I mean. Still, you can start with the applesauce and keep trying other things. My dietician told me that " applesauce was forbidden. " Of course, when I learned how to use the meal planner, I saw how ridiculous that was. It just has to be calculated in like everything else. Sorry to go on for so long. Some of the things our dietician told us were just plain nuts! Good luck. I think you'll find the keto list immensely helpful. I couldn't have done without it. Jane Now that he finally takes pills (practiced for a long time with tic tacs, also pre-diet) its a lot easier. iginal Message----- From: sentto-145753-6098-1026865334-janepraeger=compuserve.com@... o.com [mailto:sentto-145753-6098-1026865334-janepraeger=compuserve.com@... ups.]On Behalf Of jennpep25 Sent: Tuesday, July 16, 2002 8:22 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Digest Number 819 > --we used whipped cream sweetened with vanilla and stevia. Guest guest
Yes I had osteolysis. The result was the cup came completely away from the bone. The only thing that was done about it was to take the old hip out, clean up the mess, grind a bigger hole and put a bigger cup in. Oh, and put a screw to hold it in to help ensure it is attached somewhere to good bone. I have some osteolysis on the stem too, but they left that because the stem was firmly in place. I'm hoping that is the right decision. Aussie Margaret Re: Digest Number 819 > Hi > Was anyone diagnosed with osteolysis and what did you do about it?
