Who told you that, and is liver cirrhosis the only medical condition

you have to watch your diet for? For my liver the only specific

dietary change was to restrict my protein intake to 40 mg a day

according to my pcp and 60 according to the nutritionist they sent me

to. Otherwise, it was eat healthy whcih for me was a big change.

Instead of apples, try apple sauce, try canned fruit in lite syrup or

natural juices. I understand about not being able to eat the fresh

veggies and fruit. My dentures have worn down so they are almost

flat,, carrot sticks are like trying to eat a rock, even cucumber

skins, Apples I had to cut in smaller pieces. But, most veggies if

steamed are very good for you. I have multiple diets I have to work

around, liver kidney and heart, and I don't reallly feel restricted.

The most important part is to learn to read labels. Salt is

everywhere in most canned and otherwise prepared foods, Even

seasonings are full of salt. Mrs. Dash and another company does make

salt free seasonings, but I would prefer to get just one seasoning at

a time and theirs are all combinations. I am going to look around and

see if I can find some in the bags which are all natural. A little

difficult out here in the middle of nowhere. Cutting down on sugar

and salt is just healthy. But I am usually allowed up to 2000 mg of

sodium a day. I suck on rootbeer barrels to keep my mouth moist and

they are full of sugar. But the nutritionist says it is okay if I

watch my other sugar intake. If they didn't send you to a

nutritionist, ask your doctor for a referral or call a hospital and

ask if their staff nutritionist does outside consults. It gets easier

as you get used to it. Jan
