Carnauba Wax

Hi all

I was wondering if anyone would be kind to tell me how you melt

Carnauba Wax.?

Quite a few weeks back I made my first ever pomade for my hair and

added Carnauba Wax to it. I melted the Carnauba Wax in a double

boiler & actually thought that it had melted. Boy was I wrong - I

rubbed the pomade in my hands and put it in my freshly washed jet

black afro hair only to find the little hard specks of the UNmelted

Carnauba wax in my scalp, on my shoulders, down my back & parts that

only the wax could reach - LOL - it looked like I had BAD dandruff

all over!

It took an age and a half to get the wax out of my hair, off my

clothes and skin.

I forgot to mention that when I rubbed the pomade in my wet/freshly

washed hair it started to suds up again, as if I didn't completely

wash the shampoo out of my hair - but I did! What would be the reason

for this?

As it was one of my first hair concoctions, I forgot to write down

the exact quantities but it was such a small amount. I didn't use any

preservatives because I didn't have any at the time and was dying to

try my Carnauba wax, as it had just been delivered.

Here are the ingredients I used:

approx. 4oz of Shea Butter

approx. 1 and 3/4 cup of Olive Oil

approx. 2oz of Cocoa Butter

approx. 1 tablespoon of Carnauba Wax

approx. 1 tablespoon of Wheat Germ Oil

approx. 2 tablespoons of Spring Water

10 drops of Ylang ylang EO

Pretty basic huh?

Please let me know where I went wrong and how I can improve this

recipe.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Anita
