Guest guest
, Have you had any relief from the pain, yet? Did you speak to your IR about this? What was their response? Have they checked with other IR's who have performed many UAE's, ie Dr. Spies, town; Dr. Worthington-Kirsch? Hoping and hoping the pain is gone, . Sincerely, Marsha
Guest guest
Dear , How many days post-embo are you? What you are describing sounds like it could be one of many things. For instance, if you are 3-4 days post- procedure it could be a flare up of post-embolization syndrome which takes about 48-72 hrs. to start and involves increased pain and cramping, low grade fever, and possibly nausea and vomiting. If what you have sounds like this try adding a NSAID to your pain regimen, like ibuprofen or motrin. If you are farther progressed than 3-4 days and it is more like weeks, it could be your dominant fibroid was on that left side and it has become very tender, like a bruise. Also, if the IR inserted a Foley catheter into your bladder to drain your urine it could be a UTI or bladder/kidney infection from the catheter. The worst case scenario is that your uterus has not developed the collatoral blood circulation after the uterine arteries were "plugged up". In which case the uterus may not have the blood supply it needs to survive and is therefore causing you a prolonged period of uncontrollable pain. I would tend to suspect this if you are having this pain consistantly for 2-3 wks. following the procedure. If your problem sounds more like this call your GYN and IR to let them know how you are feeling and they will probably reccomend getting a follow-up CT scan or MRI to evaluate the integrity of your uterus. Hang in there, I know this can be rough and also quite scary. If you have any more questions or need further clarification of anything I have stated please feel free to call me at work (518)262-3393, I or Dr. Siskin would be happy to talk to you and help you and your IR figure out what maybe the best way to handle your situation. Take Care. Patty Meo, R.N. Post UAE 28 days, Pain Dear Post UAE Persons, Please respond to my plea, if you have any information for me. I am dealing with doctors that did the procedure fine, but do not have a clue about post UAE. I am haveing pain on my left side, where my olvaries are. Its like labor pain, traveling around to the back side. I am taking Hydormorphone, but its not taking care of the pain. I do not have a fever and I have had one normal cycle. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or is something up? I am going to call The Fibroid Embolization Center in Port Chester, New York and see if they'll give me any info. Any good info please respond. Desperate in Montana, Rose shapeani.gif
Guest guest
, I forgot to add my P.S. to the end of the last message, which was to keep in mind what you are feeling could be due to somthing totally unrelated to the embo. In which case your GYN and/or general practitioner would be the best people to consult. Good Luck, and let us know what happens. I hope to have been of some consolation/help. patty Post UAE 28 days, Pain Dear Post UAE Persons, Please respond to my plea, if you have any information for me. Guest guest
I am post embo 18 days and started my 1st cycle on fri. On Sat I woke up with excruciating pain worse than labor on the left side. I sent my husband out to fill the perscription the IR had given after the proceedure. (vicodin) This only relieved the pain for 2 hours and then it was back. I called the IR and he said that there could be a blockage in my canal and that could be causing the pain. He advised that if I wasn't feeling better by today to go to the emergency room or be seen by my gyn. Thankfully I am better today, just mild cramps. Hope you feel better soon.
