Guest guest
Howdy folks... update on my cheerleading team for those who care. Cheer is over for the year, we just got back from Nationals on Sunday last. We had a total disaster literally right before we went on.... our star tumbler, who is also a flyer (goes up in the stunts) tore her ACL about 3 minutes before we went on. The whole team was in hysterics, not wanting to go on without her (every single girl on the team is essential to the routine and anyone missing creates a huge hole in the routine). We didn't have a chance to even run through it once without her. The girls went on the floor literally with tears streaming down their faces, but they managed to go on and power through without her. It was really heartbreaking after they have worked so hard and been so successful this season (all 3 comps leading up to this they took 1st place). To not really have a fair shot just seemed so wrong. Anyway, when I picked up the score sheets the day after competition, it turned out that we placed 8th out of 17 teams regardless of the horrific performance (hard to be spirited when you are so distraught). I told the girls that it's not too bad to place 8th in the nation on your worst day ever. There are around 500 teams in the US in our division, and we won our conference championship AND our regional championship, so I am super proud of all of them. *grin* If anyone wants to check out pics of them in action, email me and I'll send you the link/instructions.
