It has been proven by medical studies that alcohol is any

amounts is particularly bad for women. To be in optimal health, you

shouldn't drink at all, even once or twice a week. It just wrecks

havoc on the body in general.

I am one of those on this list into

" alternatives " for treating

fibroids, mainly because I am still shocked by the mainstream

treatments of hysterectomy, myomectomy etc. I have heard good

reports from women who have used changes in diet to " shrink "

fibroids, all consisted of soy, and mainly vegan diets.

Something to think about, that I have read, is that fibroids present

in many women who have disfunctional livers. I have had some tests

which show that my liver is not operating as it should and I have

fibroids - albeit asymptomatic. I haven't read anything on this list

about this connection and would appreciate anyones comments on it.

My mind keeps going to the connection between diet and liver - there

IS a connection, cos we all need a liver to assimilate what we eat

and drink - so the ol' " you are what you eat " is a part of our

lives. Although I know that I would be " better " off

changing my diet

to a more vegetarian one, it would be very difficult to convince my

carniverous children and husband that it was for their own good as

well as mine. (I've tried introducing things that would be great for

me, like cottage cheese, lite milk, low fat meals etc etc -

they " don't like it " ) It's hard enough trying to get them to

all

agree to eat hamburgers!! And I dont want to have to cook two meals

every night!

On a more serious note, I do like to drink alcohol, once or twice a

week - a few or more glasses of wine or beer. Does this mean my

liver can't cope? Maybe, I'm 65kg and my father is an alcoholic, my

grandfather & grandmother were too. We all look for the reasons

why

we are afflicted with fibroids and know it is hereditary - is there

more to the pattern - is it our livers that are common?

I would love to hear from anyone who has had a serious look at their

ancestors and can see a pattern emerging.

BTW - My grandma (not the alcoholic) had fibroids, so did my Mum (not

alcoholic - but as a kid I thought she was - doesn't drink much at

all now)

What do others think about these thoughts?

, that's a pretty blanket statement. I remember reading various studies

that show that a glass of wine a day is actually good for people. Could you

please cite some of the studies you refer to that show that any amount of

alcohol is bad for women? Thanks. Leonie

Those answers were so fast - I am on the other side of the world in

New Zealand - does this mean I have found the rare oppotunity time to

chat " live " to others in the group - if so I'm off to " chat " now and

hope to meet you there!
