Maureen,

Actually no. I completely forgot about it until starting reading about the

varicies.

I'll have to request it next month to monitor. I do take iron supplements

every other day along with a multivitamin every day. I notice a small

difference when I wait 2 or 3 days to take the iron supplement. When I

take it again, I feel better.

good to hear you're already on iron supplements, darin. sometimes jim has a

tough time with the ferrous sulfate... do you take that, or ferrous

gluconate? if gluconate (supposedly better tolerated), how much of that do

you take, may i ask?

also, how often do you get your labs done? hgb should be a normal part of

everyone's labs! jim used to get his blood drawn every 4 months or so, now,

it's every 2. for 17 years now, we've had access to jim's hemoglobin

testing.

at the risk of sounding like a mom, darin, make sure you eat lots and lots

of dark green veggies! if the thought of spinach makes you shudder, i'll

happily share with you (or anyone else in the group) my recipes for spinach

quiche and spinach lasagne... a great way to sneak more iron into the diet

:-)

I take the sulfate and I'll have to check the bottle tonight - I would be

purely guessing. The sulfate doesn't bother me. As I mentioned in another

email, I can take just about anything. Just lucky or resilient, one of the

two.

Ever since I was put on the list in 3/01, I have had labs done once a

month. A real pain in the but. Another stroke of luck, I have good veins.

Even a blind person with the shakes to stick me!!

Spinach, I love spinach. Collard greens, Mustard greens. I'm a southern

boy if you couldn't tell. Problem is, my wife hates the stuff. She likes

lettuce, zucchini, carrots (I know not a green, but Texas A & M has maroons

now - I'll pass) and broccoli. She even dislikes fruit, but I have to have

the fruit.

Send the recipe for the lasagne and the quiche (can you send it via email)

Thanks,

Darin

Then you better cook it for me too. I could probably screw up scrambled

eggs if I lost my train of thought!!

Hey Darin....

From what I am seeing and reading college professor really do rule their own world...the way they want to run it....I am hoping that since we could get no help thru the offices of the college that we will find some humans doing the teaching and with some understanding....

Looks like you were not so lucky....

My mom had her visit with the cardiologist yesterday and now she needs to go for a stress test....of course I just got a call saying that it will be on the 30th of Oct...the 29th is when we will be in Philly for the tx evaluation....

At one point they thought my mom was a diabetic...I kept telling them NO....she has lived with me for years and then came the heart attack and then all the circulation trouble....which I feel was made worse by the triple bypass..where they use you own veins for that....taken from her legs and arms....she did well after the heart by pass...June 16 of 2000...Then the leg trouble started....at one point they kept testing her like she was a diabetic....pricking her a couple times a day...she did not have enough in her to fight them....so I finally said....have any of her test said positive....the answer ...for days of testing was NO...So I told them to stop all the garbage..she isn't and never was a diabetic....

Bobs mom...my mother in law was...so being very close to her I knew alot of the symptoms....After a full yr...with my mom she is still NOT a diabetic....

She always has had cholestrol....and the veins are blocked....she had to have the surgery on her neck in the arteries because they caused her to have a stroke...years ago...while she was living with me...In fact the day she had her stroke Ty and I had been in Philly at his hosp for a check up...when we got home her only concern was Ty....then she finally told me about how she was feeling...and I took her to the hosp....to the ER....after hours there they finally said she had a stroke....

Anyways it looks like if the stress test goes ok for her then the surgery will be very soon after that.....Just praying that they will be able to use a artificial vein....she doesn't have any left that I want them to use.....her arm on the stroke side is already always cold....so we will see how this all goes....

Hope this finds you having a really good day....Ty went to college and now is out hanging with his friends in his Jeep....so today is a good day....YEAAAAAA...

I am glad today was a good day for you and Ty. I wasn't sure if your Mom

was diabetic or not, I guess I just assumed. Is the loss of blood flow

just from clogged arteries going to the legs or maybe from the bypass?

Have they dx anything, besides also assuming she is diabetic?

Hope you have a good Fri. and weekend as well.
