Carol,

Neurontin is an anti-convulsant. I'm not clear why your doc.

prescribed for pain. I'd suggest doing some research.

Hi all,

My pain dr. gave me 3 samples of neurontin 100mg. She said if they work I

would feel it right away and to get the script filled. I did not feel any

different so I did not fill the script. Maybe I should?

Neurontin is often prescribed for the pain of neuropathy. When I went to the

pain clinic where my dx of Fibromyalgia was made the doctor in charge told me

that the neurontin was also the correct painkiller for Fibromyalgia. So I had

been recommended by a diabetic consultant and an anaesthetist to take

neurontin.. a versatile drug:)

I've been taking 2 X 300mg Neurontin for about 2 months and have not

noticed any help - actully pain has been getting steadily worse.

It's also supposed to help with periodic limb movement disorder

(PLMD) which I've had for years. I was on Clonazepam (Klonapin

(sp?)) from 2000 until aobut 2 months ago. I had to keep upping the

dose until the Doc figured out that it was NOT working any more

(sleep test showed an average of 40 arousals per hour at night) AND

was causing me to conk out during the day - while driving, at teh

computer etc. I actually was tested for narcolepsy.

I'm going to the Doc on Tuesday of next week and will ask if he

thinks I should up my Neurontin.

Carol,

Your doctor does not know what she is talking about. You have to build up

Neurotin in your system and your body takes time to adjust. You won't notice

right away!! wtf? It takes about 2-4 weeks to see any change and you might not

notice anything at 100mg. I'm at 900 and it does help with my sleep. Haven't

noticed a change in pain levels but my doctor says I can move up to 1200mg next.

You can safely take up to 3500mg.

Whitney :)

Umm, Neurontin is now prescribed for those with severe amounts of pain. It's

used to help treat sleep problems and low levels of pain. Please don't make a

statement like this unless you know what you're talking about!

HI Carol. I am no expert on FB or meds. I have been off handedly been

diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and am not at all sure what that means and am still

in research gear.... but... my thinking is that every drug we take has side

effects, and we may already be sensitive to drugs. If you felt nothing with the

sample......why would you want to take the drug? This Fibro is a nasty set of

symptoms it seems and I am not understanding what is goin on with our bodies..

but I for one am going to take as few drugs as possible........unless I try one

that realllllllly helps.. just my thoughts. ((((hugs)))) .........(how I wish I

could take everyone's pain away) dash

---Pam, I also have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder and my doctor

gives me Mirapex. If I remember to take it correctly, I don't have

any problems. I also have Restless Leg Syndrome and the Mirapex

corrects that. Carolyn B
