Guest guest
I hope that someone can help me out. I find reading about other people's experiences really helps me, but I haven't seen this mentioned recently: I have a really major trigger at work - a person who clears their throat, sometimes every 2 minutes. No matter what, I can't make it easier for me to cope. It never ends, it's unpredictable, and I'm getting almost psychotic over it. I feel I need to retaliate as the person is doing it to hurt me (they're not, I'm sure). I feel someone needs to explain to me why a person would make this noise. I can't figure out why the noise happens and that makes it worse. Especially so frequently. (At least with eating noises, I get why someone has to eat!) OK, so this is gross but "stuff" is in the back of my throat every morning, pretty bad some days, but I have things I do to get it out properly and keep it away all day. I couldn't stand to do the "eeuhhh-euuhmmm" thing, personally. Why do other people do it? I am pretty certain in fact that this person has like a nervous tic that makes them do it. I don't even know if *they* know that they're doing it. I can't exactly ask "why do you make this noise every few minutes"... If I ask a "normal" person why someone would clear their throat, they will maybe give me a list of medical conditions etc. and they wouldn't really understand why I'm asking. I figure if I ask on this list, at least I know you will understand why I'm asking. Have any of you ever thought the same thing? I'm going crazy trying to cope with this thing that goes on all day, and maybe if I work out why they do it, I might find some new way of coping. Hope this doesn't sound too insane Thanks!
