Guest guest
Dear listmates, As you know, it is very rare, if ever, when I advertise for a mailing-list which is not specifically in relation with medical translation. But this one has drawn my deserved attention. I mean *unitedtranslators* http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/unitedtranslators/ To present it, I think that the best is to quote here its own description : " Translators around the world should unite for the sake of quality. We need to do something about how our profession is being degraded by companies and individuals who focus on lowest price rather than quality. We need to stop translation agencies from dictating how we work, the tools we use, the price they will pay and so much more. They expect us to be available at their beck and call night and day, weekdays, weekends and holidays, but they take their sweet time to pay us and often try to get us to lower our invoice amounts claiming that we have delivered faulty translations when in fact we have provided excellent work. Some are even charging us to use they tools they dictate! Hopefully this can be a place where translators can ask others to review their work on a volunteer basis. We can also find examples of where that quality resulted in serious problems for companies. Let's show clients and potential clients how important quality really is. Let's discuss all these issues so that seasoned professionals and newcomers alike can be aware of the benefits and pitfalls they can expect to encounter. Please join this list and tell your colleagues about it. The more members we have, the stronger we will be.
