Hi all,

I am translating an article on cardiogenic shock from myocardial infarction. In

a part about the hemodynamic effects of vasodilators, there is the following

passage:

En revanche la répartition du retour veineux dépend de la vasomotricité veineuse

: la dimi- nution de celle-ci réduit la proportion du volume sanguin thoracique

par rapport au volume global (« saignée interne ») et diminue donc le volume et

la pression télédiastolique ventriculaire gauche.

My English draft:

On the other hand, the distribution of the venous return depends on the venous

vasomotoricity. The reduction of venous motoricity reduces the proportion of the

thoracic blood volume in relation to the global volume ( " internal bleeding " ),

thus reducing the left ventricular telediastolic volume and pressure.

I haven't found evidence for any other translation for " saignée interne " , but

" internal bleeding " does not make sense to me here since it does not appear to

talking about actual " bleeding " in the context. Is there another English

description that would more accurately reflect the meaning here?
