Guest guest
Hi Jan, I had a myomectomy in 97, and 6 fibroids were removed, but within a year of my surgery, new fibroids grew back. I also had the UAE procedure in 10/99--I am doing quite well, but keeping in mind that I am still in the early stages...I am having some hot flashes (and I am only 35) and moodiness and some spotting with brownish blood, but all else is well. Best of luck to you in deciding which surgery/procedure is best for you! -Val- janice w renga wrote: > I have recently discovered that I have a large ( 16+ wk) fibroid in the > fundal area of my uterus. Guest guest
Jan - make sure that every test possible has been run before you make a decision! I went through 4 gyns and several ultrasounds- vag . & sonograms each one showed something different. Have you had a hysterosopy ? What showed up as 1 - 8x6 fibroid was actually 2 . When you are anemic and watching your life's blood go down the toilet you can get scared enough to listen to the word hyst. I also had 16wk uterus . So I took lupron for 3 months while I searched for a better doctor. I finally found a new fresh one with new ideas. I just had a hysteroscopic resection/ablation & lap. And had 2 lg submucousal fibroids resectioned and ablation - and 1 chunk of endo vaporised. I still have 4 more intramural but these are non symptomatic . Every gyn I went to only offered hyst. Had I listened I would sitting here with a hyst. I will be 50 tomorrow so age makes a difference. Resection/ablation is a piece of cake - by the 2nd full day no pain the only thing that bothered me was the navel incision from the lap and stinking Co2. One of my fibroids is 18yrs old an I still have it , as long as it is asymptomatic.intramural and slow growing . If any of the rest of them begin to be a problem I will try UAE - But right now UAE is still not available in the middle of the big swamp! What ever you chose let it be your informed thoughtful decision! Good luck! KEB
