Guest guest
with research AND recognition, for me, this is a disability and i hope i can help it to be seen as that so for example, in my aptartment, right now, just as someone with a physical disability may need some accmodations, ramps, whatever, i 'need' soundproofing to be o.k. and at work, we need 'understanding' so we don't have to be afraid to ask someone to 'quit eating like a pig' or feel like ripping the gum right out of somone's mouth. i 'know' that i am the 'one' here in my bldng. that is different, that hears 'everything' while others to me, just go about their business as if nothing is happening. i am hanging on for dear life here. i have a very good and helpful psychiatrist who i see once a month who helped me get moved within a short time and 'this' being a part of it but we had to add other things to make it work. we should not have had to. and, anyone who thinks moving to a senior bldng. is the answer, i was in a family apt. for over 10 yrs. with GOOD MANAGEMENT, that is the key, our rule there was: if you can hear it outside your apt., it's too loud and it was great for the most part. there were times that i raged but nothing like the place i just left. you could walk any hall in the 3 story bldng. of seniors and hear every t.v. LOUD, there are no rules except that you can listen to t.v., radio, anything you want between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. and i lost my mind there. i really did. lack of sleep, trying to take care of business, a new town, it was hell. i am back in the area i am familiar with now so that helps but only god is getting me through right now. i know where some of my triggers came from as i know some of you do too. that is a clue to 'this'....i am really giving thought to it because i know who was the cause of a recent trigger that i never had before. certain person, not being able to control it but how do we keep it from happening? there is someone famous, can't think of his name, comedian who was describing 'this' and i wanted to e-mail him but he's too famous. anyone know? all for now. if i can help by getting my psychiatrist involved more, give me suggestions. how can we do something?
