great story to share,,,,,,,,,,, thats one that you can't help but chuckle

over when you read it,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I have to be honest, I dont think that I

would've been able to stay professional after hearing MR. RP start

singing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

ya gotta love the public that helps out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,although the ones that

get too far into it, and are constantly calling ,are almost as bad as the

criminals that we have out there,

that he was following a suspected DUI driver on a stretch of roadway that is

famous for heavy cross winds. Small compact car with a canoe strapped to the

top of it. I even asked him how windy it was.. " not THAT windy " he says.

Well, it was THAT windy for that driver, in that small of a car with a big

ol' canoe on top of it.

I will give him this much credit.. He did not identify him as " Sheriff XYZ " ,

he gave his whole name which I recognized and asked him if he was in a marked

unit and he, realizing I now knew who he was, said he was in his personal

unit. I was very glad that my little department was able to stop the car so

we didn't look like we didn't care!

Sometimes folks will report DUIs, but not want to be

involved in the stops like that, and sometimes we have to caution them over

and over again to make sure they don't drive right up and get INTO the

stop.....)

We have had such a problem with bogus DUI calls that we have begun broadcasting

them as Tired or 10-55 (dui).

Did have on last summer weaving etc, stopped by a trooper the guy didn't have a

stitch of clothes on. It was a warm, muggy night and he said he didn't have air

conditioning in his car.

The trooper could hardly contain his laughter on the radio. What a hoot.

this happened to me just a few weeks ago. Our Deputy Sherrif called in a

suspected DUI. Had him on the phone for 20 minutes while this guy went round

and round in circles. Difference being, that we couldnt catch him no matter

what we did. Finally the perp got close enough to one of the city agencies

who always seems to have more than enough cars on the road. I told the

calltaker next to me to get them on the phone, which she did and they finally

, and i do mean finally.......got him !!
