Jim,

I wasn't clear, I apologize ..... I wasn't talking about paper related work

-- I was talking about taking a different route home to see a strange

neighborhood late at night when I'd already done a 12 hour shift and had just

enough time to get home, take care of a house member with a medical thing

going on, get about 6 hours of sleep and go back in and be alert in the

morning ...... when I had already done this in day light a week earlier by my

own choice, on my own incentive for my own edification -- which the trainer

refused to listen to. Had I gone when she " ordered " it, gotten into an

accident or given the " climate " of the neighborhood it was questionable

whether I was in the course and scope of my employment.

BTW, this trainer also complained that she had more emergency traffic in 2

weeks with me than she did in her whole 3 years on the radio and wasn't there

something that could be done about that. Now if there is a way to create

emergencies I haven't learned it and I certainly don't want to ...... I

didn't make them happen -- they just happened to happen when I was on the

radio -- but she was concerned about this " problem " with me.

<< Okay maybe I have been " out of training " for to long! But 12 years ago

when

I had training, I had no " homework " that would get me hurt. Maybe a paper

cut here and there, but I could handle that with a band aid!

I am starting with a new department in a couple of weeks. They have sent me

study guides and so on to get prepared for my Training. Maybe I should wait

until im " On the clock " so if I get hurt, I will be covered, Then again that

will put me behind of everyone else who stayed safe at home after they

study. So I guess I will take the risk and study at home prior to starting

the job>

I feel like I pushed a button here -- I didn't mean to -- even though I'm off

training I still take home manuals that we can take home and look them over

on my days off -- never know what you are going to pick up or learn. Because

I'm on a busy shift there isn't time to look them over at work so I bring

them home cause maybe there's something that will help me be better at my job

in them.
