I can't workout barefoot because it hurts my feet, but I know a lot of people here prefer to Tae-Bo without shoes. I'd say, do what feels best
Guest guest
Cool! If I ever make it to the Tae Bo Fitness center (somewhere here in LA) do they make you wear shoes for the classes? Guest guest
I never wear socks or shoes when working out at home! I feel much more comfortable without... My feet get warm easy. Socks are too slippery on their own. However, I do have a pair of otomix sliders for when I work out in public in a class, or if I'm doing bag work (which I used to do in a class once or twice). They are padded on the front a bit, so it is better for kicking for me. I wear the same outfit pretty much each night, and wash it in between. I have 2 pairs of the same kinds of workout pants, they are boot cut champion long pants. My only necessity is my workout bra 0 and the spandexy one I wear on top of it, to keep my boobs from moving too much! I can't go without both of them ever... I don't wear a tshirt, I sweat too much... Just wear whatever is comfy for you. Shoes are individual preference. Some people need the support. > Here's a silly question I've been working up the courage to ask... > > What are you supposed to wear when working out? Guest guest
> What are you supposed to wear when working out? i dont think that there is anything in particular that you are SUPPOSED to wear! LOL. well, i guess that gyms would have some rules, but at home anything goes! personally i wear hanes or fruit of the loom underwear, a sports bra, socks, shoes, a headband, a wristband and a pony tail wear shoes if you want to....i dont think that it is a requirement. i do wear shoes because i work out on a hardwood floor and need some cushioning... also i have slightly injured my foot in the past by kicking a piece of furniture while doing taebo barefoot. -carolyn. --- Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
I have a pair of long black pants boot cut (yoga pants) that I wear, and a tight top that is sleevless, but not the tank top style. I go barefoot ALL the time doing Tae-bo. Even with the bag. Since the round house kicks you use the bottom of the foot, and the side kicks use the top. It doesn't hurt at all. I also have a mat that is on a scrap piece of carpet on top of the cement floor. The mat is for treadmills, but it works out great. Some padding and my foot doesn't slip when kicking. Guest guest
I could be wrong, but I thought a roundhouse kick used the top of your foot (a slap kick), and the side kick was using the flexed foot (bottom)... >the round house kicks you use the bottom of the foot, and the side kicks use the top. Guest guest
Maybe I do them backwards LOL. I always took it, that the side kick was kicking someone in the side. I know there is one workout where he says if you flex the foot it works the back of the thigh, and if you point the toe it works the front of the thigh. I flex the foot more to work the back anyway. As long as we do both ways, we are still working IT. Guest guest
Beckie, Yeah, I think you are doing them backwards... you may want to check the link that was on here earlier, was it Cola, that provide it. It really illustrates the roundhouse vs. the sidekick. They each have different purposes... and having proper form when doing both will help in your workout. http://www.taebo.com/newsletter/Tips/Archive/tiparchive.htm The roundhouse does use the pointed toe, and a slap with the outside (top) of the foot. The sidekick is a flexed foot using the heel as the striking power. It makes a big difference when doing bagwork (at least it did when I was using a bag in the gym!) Guest guest
I suggest you wear your shoes... various reasons! If you train with your shoes on, you will be better prepared should you ever need to use what you have learned to defend yourself! Secondly, it gives you a better feeling of security. Socks are too slippery in themselves adn you can twist your slide and pull something. Even on carpet. Thirdly, they add a bit of weight ot your workout.. one you can use in your day to day use of tennis shoes! Will make those long days on your feet less tiring to your legs! I tend to wear any ole pair of shorts, usually my cut off sweat ones, sports bra.. or heck even just a regular bra some socks and my " indoor " shoes(these are shoes I don't wear to do chores, but will wear to town or something). I train on carpet in a small living area.. so yes.. have to be really careful where those kicks are going! LOL JMHO, Michigan
Guest guest
I wear my sports bra, a Tae-Bo T-shirt (I cut the sleeves off and cut most of the bottom off) and either my workout shorts, biker shorts or pants. Guest guest
You don't have to wear shoes and many people bring a towel for the floor work. All that icky sweat in the carpet and all. When I was there last year, someone mentioned that he uses athlete's foot powder when he goes barefoot there, again 'cuz of all the icky sweat. Gymmie in Cali )!!!!!
