Guest guest
After lurking on this list for some time - simply a *lack of time* factor, nothing as sinister as *lurking* seems to imply - today I feel compelled to post a couple of titbits I have heard from two different doctors who are NOT TREATING ME FOR FIBROIDS. TITBIT #1 The first was a discussion I was having with a neurologist who specialises in women's pelvic pain. I mentioned how women feel about hysterectomy, including the blase nature of some doctors on this issue. MY QUOTE: " ....A lot of very distressed women out there. A big part of it is the blase way in which women's sexual organs are treated; by both male and female doctors. " HIS QUOTE IN RESPONSE: " A real issue for me. terrible injustice for women The bloody surgeons forget they are cutting nerves! " TITBIT #2 Today I visited my GP about another problem. He is NOT in charge of my fibroids.... We spoke about myomectomy. He was *strongly* of the opinion that since I would be producing lots of estrogen for quite some time (I'm 39) that the fibroids would be likely to return. I told him that I had heard stats of the return of fibroids after myomectomy that ranged from 10-65%!!!! I said " surely they must *know* " . He said that they don't have accurate stats because they have only really been using this option for 6 or 7 years and that prior to that it wouldn't have been considered *good practice* to do a myomectomy because of the associated complications. Daphne Age 39 from Melbourne, Australia, with at least 3 fibroids, one external to the uterus that is 10-15 cm (the jury is out on this one!). Currently having opinions on laparoscopic myomectomy and UAE. P.S. When is there going to be a *good* option?? LOL Oh! In relation to laparoscopic surgery, to the person who was told they couldn't get in via the belly button.... My (potential) surgeon would be going in through the side.... (I know we're all different, but thought I'd pass that on). Please feel free to post to me off list. ===== daphne_j_60@... __________________________________________________
