Dear Peg,

I'm sorry to hear about your pancreatitis. I have had only one ERCP and will

never have one again. I developed severe hemorraghic pancreatitis from it

and then that lead to A.R.D.S. and being in ICU and on a vent for 4 days. I

was in the hospital for 3 weeks and lost 20 pounds. (I wish I could lose 20

pounds right now LOL!)

I'm glad yours was not as serious but am still sympathetic to what you went

through.

When I had the ERCP they said 2 in 100 could develop pancreatitis. I was

whacked out on drugs but remember saying " I'm a statistic!! "

Anyway, take good care and I hope you feel a lot better soon!!

I developed pancreatitis one time out of the two ERCPs that I've had. Anyone

else care to share their statistics? It seems like quite a few people here

have been part of that " statistic. " Just food for thought.

I think that the 5% is for the general population. PSCers have

ducts that make side effects harder to predict. Predisposing

some to pancreatitis no matter how skilled to doctor (but it

helps to have someone who can recognize early on when its not

going right).

I couldn't agree more. Even if I could have another, I wouldn't. We even

brought in someone from out of town for my second one. No pancreatitis the

second time, but life threatening liver infection and abscesses were the

result. The beginning of my slide down the slippery slope..............
