I seem to be having trouble just hitting reply No, Quantell never had any kind of ostomy; his poop exits the usual pathways. And, sorry to get graphic, but the usual expectation for people with short gut is chronic diahrrea. Q followed that pattern until the advent of symptoms which were later diagnosed as PSC. When all that started he started having bouts of constipation. (My personal theory is that it's related to reduced bile flow.) Ultrasounds nearly always reveal pockets of fecal material in intestinal pouches -- it kind of sags and traps the material. Inconvenient but manageable.
