Everyone is great. What motivated me was the fact that I told my doctor last year that I wanted to come off medication. She told me " no way, it will probably increase " . That was last Sept. The 10th day of Feb, I stopped taking medication with my doctor's approval, of course. I have lost about 45-46 lbs and I feel great about myself. I love the way I look and so does my husband. I get so many nice compliments. Shopping for " skinny " clothes is great. For the past 6 yrs, I've had lots of energy, so I can't say my energy level has increased. I stay busy all the time, housework, yardwork, walking, etc. It does take willpower and lots of it but you can do it. Just take it one day at a time. Guest guest
Hi Ruth, Welcome to the group. This is a very supportive group. You will enjoy it. I think you need to multiply your number by 18 and that will give you the US reading. Divide ours by 18 to get the brit reading. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Guest guest
Welcome, Gerry; We usually moderate the first post to see what your intentions are when you join the group. My husband has been on 12 hr. swing shifts for years and it causes him a lot of problems with high blood pressure so I can empathize there. Are you on the same shift all the time or do you swing shifts? __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Welcome Ian, My name is Andi. Iam hypothyroid myself. Iam really not sure how it affects a person. Of course Iam always fatigued as well. I used to have raging headaches but I stopped drinking coffee and I dont have them much now. Thank Goodness for that. I do not like to take NSAIDS if I can help it. I will look around on line and see if I can come up with some info on Hypothyroidism for you. Is this good? Hi , This number is great!!!!! I would say continue with whatever plan of eating you are now on. I believe the reason doctors don't give very strict guidelines to people with diabetes is because every individual is different. Some people can eat what others cannot. Diabetes is a trial and error disease. You eat something different, you test to see what happens to your BG's. It doesn't take too long to learn what you can and cannot eat. Keep up the good work. Guest guest
Hello , I had a glucose tolerance test run last month and the results came back abnormal. I can't remember exactly.........and I didn't get a copy of the results of the tests..........but I think they said my 2 hour level was 250 and should have been below 180??? I think that's what they said. Anyway, the reason she got the tests so quickly is that she has some new machine in her office that she is testing out. It was done with a finger stick instead of a blood draw (although they also did a draw to check for accuracy on their new machine) and within 6 minutes she had the results. I seem to be having some higher b/g readings this week than I have in the past 3 weeks. Not really sure what's going on either. I would say that 3/4 of my readings have been over 170 this week, whereas in the past 2 previous weeks I only had 1 reading that was over 170. I am watching my carbs, but that doesn't seem to be doing it this week. I guess that I will get the hang of this soon. S. ----- Original Message ----- Hi - That's great. I was wondering how she did it so fast. When I get mine done it gets sent to a lab and takes a couple of days to come back. With an hb of 5.4 why did they think you were diabetic in the first place? Was it high numbers after eating? Your fasting number must have been ok with an hb that low. Sorry for all the questions but I have been away and so I haven't read any past mail since july 21. Guest guest
Hi Dianna, Welcome. You sound good. Speaking of delurking, I spoke at my f2f (face to face) meeting for the first time tonight. I did feel more at home. Perhaps more important - more motivated to stay on track. I lost 1.6 lbs tonight. Guest guest
Thanks for the general unsubscribe email Ingy, I find it rather *annoying* that people can't figure out how to do it themselves! Like we are a bunch of ladies sitting around just waiting to unsubscribe somebody! I know, I know, PMS rearing ugly head. No wonder my husband left the country! Guest guest
Hi Jeanne and welcome to the group! It is cool that you have approval already. Hopefully they can get you scheduled ASAP. That is when it was really " real " to me ....when I got a date. I had my surgery in Feb. on the 4th. I am doing very well now and I am so glad that I did. Hope to hear from you often....annee Hello everyone. I am new to this group. My name is Jeanne and I live in the Milwaukee area in Wisconsin. Here is my story: I've had a weight problem all my life, but it is in the last year and a half or so that I've reached my breaking point. I've just gotten to the point where I know my body cannot handle more pounds, and if I don't do something, I know the pounds will kill me. So I spent the better part of last year thinking about this, and began seriously pursuing it in the fall. Now I am approved and will see my surgeon individually for the first time on March 28th. Hopefully because I already have approval, we will schedule the surgery then. I look forward to getting to know you all and making some new friends. Guest guest
Hello, My name is Joyce. I joined a couple of days ago. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am in pain day after day after day even though I am taking Naproxyn and Fentanyl 50 mcg. I can't tell that the Naproxyn is doing a thing but two Dr's says it is. The Fentanyl is helping only a little but it looks as though I may have to go to a stronger pain patch. It cost almost $300. for the patches. Kinda hard when you are on SS.
