Aside from the >suicidal >calls I got one from one of my regulars.....The doc upped the dosage on his >meds... It was definitely one of those nights. I plugged in last night and the first call I take is from the ex-wife of one of our more " notorious " citizens (can we say flagged address? automatic multi-car response to the simplest of calls, maybe?) She is calling from out of jurisdiction to report that he has called her and told her that she doesn't have to worry about him anymore, he is just going to shoot himself and be done with it. She (as usual) didn't want to get law enforcement involved, but she thought he was serious so she wants us to go and check on him. *start mess number one here* Next call I take - you got it - suicidal female downed a bunch of pills (unknown quantity or type), picked up her 10 yo daughter from home and sped off. Nobody at home knows what she's upset about or where she might have been headed. *start mess number two here* Mess number two came out ok. We found the female and her daughter. Daughter was returned home, female was placed on a psych hold. Mess number one devolved into one of those things you wish you had never been a part of, but the guy was still alive when the call was cleared... Not the way to start off a 12 hour shift, and it definitely doesn't bode well for the rest of my week. Halloween is always a flaky day to work. Definitely not the opinions of my agency....
