Guest guest
Aethna is a great carrier in my opinion. My father has been with them for over 50 years through his employer and now retirement years. The company switched carriers once and everyone was disappointed. The new carrier did not last very long and lucky us, Aethna was back. Instead of going days without checking, I would opt to check less until you get the matter resolved. My doctor writes my prescriptions for 150 strips with the instructions to test 4-5 times per day. That way my insurance pays for the monthly prescription in a sufficient amount. Once he wrote the prescription for 150, they come in boxes of 50 for my machine, and the insurance tried to break that down for 3 month's worth saying that 50 was a monthly supply. He had to rewrite it and ever since writes the specific language in the prescription. Heck, 25 is not even enough for a once a day per month. Good luck. a J. pawprinter@... Guest guest
Hi Pamela, I only test twice a day, so that is how my doctor wrote the prescription. Our insurance uses National Diabetics Pharmacy for supplies. Every three months, I call for supplies. Because of the way the lancets and strips are packaged, I get a few more than 3 months supply. I can call in my order one day and have it the next. Much better than having to go to the local pharmacy every month. You may want to check with your insurance and/or doctor to see if you can order them in a 3-month supply. Eunice
Guest guest
Hi, I didn't see your name so I will just tell you this. I also use the Precision. I get 150 sticks per month. My doctor wrote a prescription with the exact testing instructions written on it. The pharmacy HAS to cover the amount that the doctor orders since it is a prescription. I test 4-8 times per day. I hope this helps you in some way. You could also talk to your insurance company yourself and explain the situation yourself. Alot of times it isn't any hard thing to fix, but if they do not know they cannot help. Good Luck. Sharon In CA.
Guest guest
Pamela: We have Aetna USHC insurance too. We have their Managed Choice POS, which is not an HMO. My doctor wrote the prescription calling for testing three times a day. They sent a 90 day supply with the correct number of lancets. BTW, I don't use the sticker that goes with my meter. I figured that it doesn't really matter how I get the blood to come out! I use an Accu Check meter and a Lifescan sticker. I prefer the Lifescan sticker. Aetna had no problem with that combination. We've had no problem so far with Aetna's insurance, except for their rising premiums - lol!
