Some times the pain gets so bad in my sholders it creeps up to my neck and gives me a very bad pain in my had that can last for hours and makes me wnt to go mad. Guest guest
, Hi, and welcome. I'm sorry that the pain is so bad for you, but I understand it all too well. My shoulders and neck sometimes feel like rocks reside there instead of muscles, and I get those whopper headaches too. In fact, I've been dealing with pretty much the same thing this past week. I use a lot of different things to try to relieve the pain. ThermaCare heat wraps are a wonderful alternative to a heating pad if you need to remain mobile, but can be expensive, so I use my heating pad just as often...but use MOIST heat! I also use Sports Creme, it's a muscle rub, which I like better than products like Icy Hot or Ben Gay, because it doesn't smell bad, and it doesn't give your skin that weird feeling. There is also a product called PK5, which is a roll on liquid that you rub briskly into your skin. That sometimes takes the pain away. You can get it at Walmart. You can also get a little neck Shiatsu massager at places like Walmart or other dept. stores. I have a fuzzy little vibrating massager w/ heat that I got around X-mas time that wraps around my neck. But the best thing of all is an old fashioned massage from my hubby. Unfortunately, my best efforts don't always work, and I have bring out the big guns, the meds. My doctor has prescribed both a muscle relaxer and a pain med that I can take when the pain gets too out of control. Does your doctor prescribe relief meds to you? I hope your doc isn't one of those who think relief meds are not " appropriate " for Fibro! I've run across a few of those, and thank goodness they weren't the ones in control of my scripts! Sometimes, those meds are the ONLY things that get me through. I also take " preventative " meds, Topamax to treat chronic pain, and Bextra for chronic tendonitis. If it wasn't for these two meds, I don't think I would be doing half as good as I am. The Topamax made a dramatic difference in my overall pain levels. Pain affects us in so many ways. I hate to hear that it's impairing your interactions with your child. My girls have had to make so many adjustments since I was diagnosed, and I know it wasn't easy for them, even though they were 12 and 10 at the time. If you haven't discussed what you are going through with your doctor, I really urge you to. He or she may be able to do something to help you more. All my best, Jen
Guest guest
I am new at this so if my suggestion is too simplistic, please forgive me. Have you tried a physical therapist? Have you tried 15minutes of deep heat on it? Mine was pretty horrible and the first ultrasound treatment in Physical Therapy helped ... it is still there but .... it is better. I have the pain in my back nad neck for decades...(I hv to literally lay down cus I can't support my head on my shoulders)...but am just diagnosed with fibro.. and the quick heat and laying down seems to help me a little bit. Then I have to watch what I do constantly and be changing positions. I hurt all the time and thought that was just due to my screwed up back...and the car accident of 1993. I guess it is .... but it is also fibro. dash Help Hi My name is , I have lived with Fibromyalgia for about 7-8 years now, and nothing seems to work for the pain.
