HI Jimm,

I am very new here (like two days) but I also take neurontin and find is

extremely helpful. The sleepiness does get better. I felt like a zombie of sorts

for a while.

What finally worked for me was cutting down the dose to once a day, doing that

for a week, and other (it was much better by a week). Then adding one more in

and staying with that until I could tolerate it and then adding the third dose.

I take 900 3X a day for rheumatoid arthritis and DDD and other spinal issues. My

stepfather took it for ALS and it really helped him tremendously.

Hey,

I take Neurontin - 2400 mg - 1200 in the morning and 1200 mg at night. I have

found that it doesn't really help that much. It may be helping with my pain

some, but it is not helping with my peripheral neuropathy.

To answer your question though, I am not tired on it. The neurontin used to

make me tired, when i first started taking it. My starting dose was 600mg at

night to help me sleep.

I think that the tiredness will subside, but every person is different. Talk to

your doctor about it. It may be increasing drowsiness side effects in your

other meds?

Hugs,

Sierra

hi jenny

my name is ed. sounds like you and i have the same problems. i also

have rheumatoid arthritis and DDD and now have to have surgery to

replace my hip joints.

i feel for you and i know what you are going

thru. the pain is everyday all day 24/7. i have never heard of the

medicine that you are referring to (neurontin). it sounds like

something i take called " cyclobenzaprine " . it deadens the nerve

endings. it helps some but pain is still there.

i take so much

medicine that it is unbelievable. i am lucky that i am a disabled

veteran so the VA furnishes me all meds. i came down with the

arthritis while i was on active duty and finally retired in 1997.

i

dont think i could pay for all my meds and live if i had to a

civilian doctor and hospital. may i ask how old you are? unless

there is a medical breakthru we will suffer with this pain from now

on and i dread every minute of it.

Hang in there

Ed
