Guest guest
Neely, Dr Rekate did my surgery last Sept and everything went just fine..I also have very low blood pressure usually runs about 95 over 59 and I had no problem at all.... i was in icu for 3 days and they kept me very comfortable..the staff at St Joe's are just great....after that I was in a regular room for 2 more days then home...I was back to work part time in 3 weeks ..Now I did push it because I am itchy and can't sit still....but I have to say that after 5 weeks I felt fantastic....so I hope it goes just as well for you....will be thinking and saying a little prayer for ya... Guest guest
Neely, It's strange you mentioned the blood pressure thing I also have low blood pressure which was perfect for years then all the sudden started running low about exactly what yours runs. I just make sure the doctors and nurses are aware and they seem to handle it from there. I think mine started about the time my kidneys had backed up for the thousands time. My blood pressure always went through the roof when that happened . That was about 15 years ago now it runs 90/60 without fail. HUH !!! Does any one else on the list run low? Well good luck with your surgery and let us know how you make out when all is said and done. Chris Upcoming Surgery Hello all. I hope all is well for everyone. Well, as you can see by my post title, i am coming up to my surgery date very quickly. It is August 11 here in Phoenix at St. phs Hospital by Dr. Harold Rekate at Barrows. Well, i am not scared of the surgery it's self, but everything else.... I dont like to be put under anesthesia (however you spell that). It scares me..even though i have been under 2 times in the past 2 years, i cant get over the fear of not waking up..i dont know how to get past that. Dr. Rekate's nurses and staff including himself have been wonderful in reassuring me...but you all know how that goes..they can tell you a million times that everything is going to be okay, but you always have fear... Another thing that worries me is my heart stuff and being put under. I\My cardiologist says i have no problems with being put under and even gave me a release to give to Barrows, but i am still worried. I have very LOW blood pressure...compared to what it was last year before i had my gastric bypass and lost 100 pounds. At that time is was 115-125 over 75 to 80...never lower or higher, in fact it was almost always 120/80 without fail...now it's anywhere from 90 to 110 over 50 to 70......for the most part it is almost always 90/50 when i go to my regular doc for checkups...now i know they have lowered the blood pressure standards and the 90/50 is considered a little low but still very good ......i am still scared that it is to low for surgery. It didnt help that when Dr. Rekate did my blood pressure in the office it was 110/65...higher than normal because i was a bit nervous....And besides the blood pressure stuff i also have that the cardiologist calls benighn PVC's....Pre-Ventricular Contractions (where the hear fires its beats backwards...ventricals fire before the atriums...which then caused a half of a skipped beat....because the atriums thing that they have aleady beaten because the ventricals beat so they miss a beat(sorry if i am not making to much sense...just a bit scatterbrained these days)....they say i will not have a problem being under....but you all know....the fear is still there. He said my surgery will only take about 2 1/2 to 3 hours and then no ICU afterwords and 4 to 6 days in the hospital and then home recovery is 3 to 4 weeks depending. Hopefully it wont be much more than that even though i took 2 months off of work, i am not one to sit home and rest....cabin fever sets in easily...I was back to work 3 1/2 weeks after my open ruen-y gastric bypass ladt April, and that was a MAJOR surgery. Anyone have any words of wisdome that might help ease a worried mind? And may have more questions and rants to come...be patient with me all... I appreciate anyones help -Neely L3 Tether ACM1
