Expressing drug doses in Swedish

Hi folks,

I have a Swedish report on adverse drug reactions that contains many references

to the doses of various drugs taken by patients in the following form:

Patienten påbörjade behandling med tiamazol *5 mg 3x2*.

I'd appreciate confirmation of exactly what the numeric notation equates to in

this example, as I don't recall seeing that same structure previously. Instinct

says it means three thiamazole/methimazole 5 mg tabs twice daily, i.e. a total

daily dose of 30 mg, but it's obviously not something I would like to

misunderstand!

Can anyone confirm or correct, pse? Merck suggests 30 mg daily is at the upper

end of the recommended starting dose in hyperthyroidism, so it sounds plausible,

at least.

Many thanks,

NZ
