I have a 5 year old son .My son got sick 2 wks ago with a ear infection the doctor put him on a anibiotic.When my son was on the anibiotic I was very scared about yeast flare ups.But to my surprize I was shocked his OCD behaviors stopped his speech doubled,his poop became formed and no more white or black flakes in his poops,he even stopped running.My son is done with the anibiotic and now I'm seeing the OCD behaviors coming back also lots of hyperactivity. I'm really lost I don't know anything about pandas, and my lil man is going back how he used to be .He stopped his antibiotic on Wednesday and everyday that goes bye I see all the behaviors coming back. Guest guest Posted March 8, 2009 Report Share Posted March 8, 2009 my son is also on an antibiotic right now, omnicef, which treats strep and we too are having a great language boost (though non verbal, hitting target sounds, attempting words) but we are also seeing very yeasty behavior. FWIW, we also began enhansa 2 wks ago and frankly, the language boost was more in line with that than the omnicef, but I am sure the omnicef is also helping (we have used it low dose before and have seen gains). My son had strep titers 10x the ref.range 3 yrs ago but PANDAS test from Immunoscience following that titer test came back negative. Dr Yasko felt that a PANDAS negative can be false, and based on my sons OCD and shredding stims that have continued for years, I have to agree. We have never been able to rid gamma strep on a CSA, except for a short time while on low dose omnicef last spring. Meanwhile, we did Yasko strep protocol for 2 plus years to no avail. I have to say that our recent venture into chinese herbal tea has decreased the symptoms.. took about 2.5 mos. on the tea to see results though. We have had low clostridia numbers in the past, just over the ref. ranges on testing, so I suppose that could be a factor also. It is really hard to quantify. By the time you get to testing, the symptoms change, and the results aren't always indicative of what you thought. I just try to comprehensively deal with all issues as though they were at play - strep, clostridia, yeast, bacteria - and watch my son. I have heard enhansa can kick up yeast in the beginning and we are seeing signs, but unfortunately are on an antibiotic at the same time that is dealing with probably some underlying issues of strep and clostridia, as well as kicking up yeast,lol - at times it seems there is no definitive answer. We have been at this 5 yrs. now and it flip flops month to month. (recently we are at 15 words!).
