Guest guest
Sharon, That sounds horrible, and I can understand your fear! Mine is more a fear of the OTHER people on the interstate with me!! They drive so crazy, zooming in and out, going WAY over the speed limit, semis all over the place. It gives me chills just thinking about it! I'm just very paranoid about what all of those people are going to do, as they obviously aren't paying attention to their driving, or the other people on the road! Guest guest
Dear Jen, I am also paranoid about other drivers on the interstate, especially the big rigs. I will be doing 65 mph, which is the posted speed limit, and cars and trucks go flying by me like crazy. I am always hearing on the news about fatal wrecks, especially those with drunk drivers, and it scares ,me to death. That, along with the meds I take, are the reason I only drive when I *HAVE* tol hugs and prayers, Sharon - Memphis, TN Faith...with it, miracles *CAN* and *DO* happen! Up behind me on my left comes a huge cement truck and drives drives into my back and side of my car like I wasn't even there. Had to way leave his lane and people were stopped in front of him for the light. Where the dickens did he think he was going to go. . . . I drove in a cold sweat for the next year! Jumpy as all get-out. Really annoying when one minds their own business and someone else is not paying any attention at all. I was more than unhappy about my car as well. I tried to drive up on the side of road to get away and there were phone polls and signs in the way. I asked the police to give him a breath test. . . It was 2 p.m. and they said it was no big deal! WTF! Truck drivers are not what they used to be. Cheers, Cat ^. .^ ~ " Optimism is magic! "
Guest guest
Cat and Sharon, I hear ya! I had an accident back in '99, on Christmas Day no less, that caused me to have the same cold fear for a long time. It also caused me to have a bulging disc and SI joint dysfunction, but that's another story! We were going to my husband's grandparent's house, which is about 3- 4 blocks away from our house. We were just one block away from their house when a guy ran a stop sign, and I couldn't stop fast enough to avoid hitting them. Even though we weren't going fast (25mph), it was a front impact, so my airbag deployed, and the force of it threw me back, and even knocked my sunglasses off my face. I only had my shoulder belt on (bad me!!), so I bowed around it, and then got thrown back. I had severe whiplash from it, and my car was totalled. After that, every time I went past an intersection where a car was coming up to it, and it looked like they weren't going to stop, or they were inching up, I panicked big time. I was so afraid they were going to pull out in front of me. I still catch myself cringing from time to time, even now. A few months ago, I witnessed an accident at an intersection, and had I been paying attention and went right when the light turned green, I would have been involved myself. A guy barrelled through a red light without even looking. That kind of stuff lives with you for a long time. It's hardly any wonder why we're all so paranoid about the other guy!!! But I suppose after I get in an accident on the highway I won't like those either. The last person who hit my car, hit it while it was parked and I was no where around. Thank goodness they left their name and number. I got lucky on that one. Cheers, Cat ^. .^ ~ " Optimism is magic! "
