update..well, not really...........

Hi all, this is alittle bit of an updat eon my dad..I had a thread long

introduction fe weeks back. Well, we finally have a liver biopsy scheduled. The

gastro doc said he suspects its cirrohsis . I am so very nosey, My mom is in

hospitak trying to fight an infection , they keep switching the antibiotics, so

they can treat this.....well my dad is at home alone so i try to get over there

once a day. But he is always(still) on the couch. The doc told him need to stop

drinking completely. Well i asked him " do you think it will be hard? " well stupid

me . I wa sthinking,seeing that he has drunk for years upon years, very

functional kind of drinker. but it seemed as if it was just gettinghim thru the

day. Well, he says " yeah of course " its going to be hard. Well that was two

weeks ago and i smelled vodka on his breathe when he was sleeping, not on his

breathe but in teh area of couch where he was at. He has skipped paying bills,

THAT IS SO UNLIKE HIM!! he is trying to act liek he is okay....is he? im

thinking he doesnt look well , he lays on the couch most of teh day or sitting

up w/ legs on arm of couch. COuld he possibly not feeling anything?? His

stomach is very very large and I went in bathroom nd saw like 7 empty tissue

rolls in trash. either he hasnt dumped it, or he is using that bathroom alot.

Which I think he has diarhea.. his legs are swollen one is really swollen and

tehy prcribed hi like 5 medicines incl. two water pills. His lab work cam back

and said he was vitamin defecient , malnutritioned and he is still anemic. he

made some comments to me ...he says " why go thru all that? " meaning trying to

get yourself together and such. he said " i can see if a person was important and

people would miss them " but no one would miss him ....he thinks.I am so scared

to one day just walk in his house and find teh worse. He acts like everything

is alright but I know its not, How does one be an advocate for someone like

him....still drinking, he says he's felling fine, i personally thinks he need to

be in teh hospital. But when he saw his dr. last month she wanted to see him

back in four mths. My family and I think that is ludicris...maybe teh doc missed

something!!! thanks once again you guys for hearing me
