Guest guest
Greetings, Since I'm up in the middle of the night tonight, I was going to clear messages for the group. There weren't any in the queue, so that gives me the time to write one of my own. Besides the usual body pain, I'm dealing with a combination of cluster headache cycles and a migraine. Either one on their own is bad enough, but when the two hit together, all bets are off. Without intervention, the cluster headaches cycle almost constantly for several days. The migraine doesn't cycle, it just keeps going and going like the Energizer Bunny. It leaves me feeling very lackadaisical for a couple of days after the initial attack subsides. The headaches hit on Thursday. I thought I had them on the run, when I went back to bed around 11 p.m. last evening. I was wrong. I woke up at 2:30 a.m. with my head screaming again and my right eye almost swollen shut. The left eye is half swollen. I look like I've been stung in the face by a bee :-) The cluster headaches cause the swelling. I'm applying ice packs in five minute intervals to my head, face, and neck. I also took another dose of my last resort, emergency medications. I don't like taking the combinations of ergots, antihistamines, metoclopramide, and four banger Fiorinal, but the time comes when it's either take them or go stark, raving mad. The swelling is slowly subsiding, so I'm going to ice myself a couple of more times. Then I'm going back to bed and see what happens next. Ah - life in pain lane. -- Lyndi

Good morning Lindi, I get those cluster headaches often too. But, fortubnately, they are very short lived. Mine usually can last anywhere from a few seconds to an hour and a half. But, if it does last more than 20 minutes, I will know it'll be at least an hour before it gets better. Since I haven't had a migraine in month's, actually I had one since April. I've stopped using anything with Asparitine in it and my migraines have practically dissapeared. Lindi, Have you had an MRI on your head, and sinus region? The added pressure of a sinus condition, I was told, could be responsible for my cluster headaches. /NY
