Guest guest
Thanks for responding Robin, I am tinkering around with a sore muscle rub that includes MSM, some nice butters, and menthol crystals. I thought it might be an interesting effect to have the cooling of the menthol but a little heat from the capsicum. I am not very scientific with my measurements but am using my own little measureing tool (so I have no idea in grams, etc.) I starting out with very small amounts and gradually am building up. I have heard that it can be quite potent. My first few attempts have not had a lot of heat so will bump up the amount. I will try to infuse some into my oils. Should I perhaps use a low heat to infuse...perhaps a slow cooker on low? Robin wrote: > > > May I ask what purpose you are adding it for? Guest guest
I can tell you that too much of the capsicum is irritating. I once bought a product for arthritis -- used it daily -- by the end of the week my skin was very irritated -- I felt like I was on fire. It may be sensitizing to some folks -- for personal use OK -- if you are going to sell this product you may want to leave it out. Menthol IMO is the bomb in sore muscle/arthritis rub -- can't do without it. Guest guest
Different people react differently as well. My husband makes a capsicum vinegar to put on his sore muscles/joints. I tried it once and it was unbearable - even after washing it off it hurt! So keep in mind that if you are testing it on yourself, it may be different on others!
