There is a young woman who is a student at Syracuse University that is looking to interview women for an article she is writing on how doctors recommend hysterectomy and why some women choose to ignore the recommendation. She is specifically interested in personal answers to the following questions:

- What, exactly, did the doctors say to you in informing you of your need for hysterectomy?

- Did the doctor indicate the uterus was a " useless bleeding organ " (or anything like that) and, if so, why did they consider it useless?

- Why did you choose to ignore the doctor's recommendation for hysterectomy?

There are many of us on this list that are capable of answering those questions. . .won't you please help her out by sending her email to the above address? She originally posted her request on the sans-uteri list but so many women on that list did, in fact, go ahead and have a hysterectomy that she is not quite getting the response she needs. Her article focuses more on why women choose NOT to have a hysterectomy and then, just what are the consequences of that choice. (From what I can surmise from her email to me.) Her " slant " is to provide information on how to avoid unnecessary hysterectomy. . .
