Guest guest
BIG HUGE GIGANTIC CONGRATS TO YOU STEPHEN!! DO NOT be disappointed!! That is absolutely wonderful. I'm lucky if I lose half a pound a week w/ diet and exercise. And I have about 10 - 15 lbs that I really want to see go. It seems that I pretty much just maintain and don't lose. I blame it on breastfeeding though as your body holds on to fat stores I guess. That's okay though cuz my priorities are certainly my baby at this point and if it takes a little extra flab to hang around. I will have to live with it Boy, I didn't mean to go on about myself. Anyway, be proud. that is truly awesome how far you've come. Congrats again.........Be proud. Darcy Hi Tae-Bo Friends,

I said I would weigh on Tuesday or Wednesday, but I wanted to know
today! I was really hoping I would have lost at least 10 pounds in the
past 5 weeks (actually tomorrow is officially 5 weeks since the last
weighing).

When I weighed about 5 weeks ago I weighed 203.

So, I stepped onto the scale today and saw it go to: 195

8 more pounds in 5 weeks. Brings the total to 58 pounds lost since
December 18. I am somewhat disappointed. I'm now averaging just 1.7
pounds per week. argh! However, that makes sense, right? Since I'm
getting smaller I'm probably burning less calories and with my exercise
and food intake remaining about the same, I think it makes sense that
I'm not losing at the same rate as before, doesn't it?

The summer is here though and I need to follow those challenges you guys
have going more than ever! I should be able to add in 1 or 2 advanced
workouts (well not add them just replace 1 or 2 basics with advanced
workouts) each week hopefully and maybe I can get my resistance training
going again. That is the secret for me I think. I need that resistance
training! I remember when I did the resistance training consistently
for 2-3 weeks I lost something like 10 pounds in just three weeks, but I
did weigh quite a bit more then too so I was probably burning more
calories.

Still, I need the resistance training back in my routine and I need to
add at least one advanced workout per week to my schedule.

I must also remember guys that in 3 of those past 5 weeks, I was only
doing 4 basic Tae Bo workouts in those weeks, instead of my normal 5 per
week, so that is to blame too! Actually, you gotta admit, 8 pounds in 5
weeks and for 3 of those weeks I was only doing 4 basic Tae Bo workouts
each week, that is pretty staggering results actually. Obviously my
diet is playing a huge role in the weight I'm losing too.

However, you know what the ONE thing that makes me feel GREAT about
losing those 8 pounds? I feel like I've noticed those eight pounds
visually more than I even noticed 12 pounds being lost before. So now
that I'm getting closer and closer to a healthy weight, hopefully the
weight I lose will be more evident visually. I think that is why I am a
bit sad with the results too, because visually I've really noticed a
significant change in the past five weeks.

Plus, it was the first time I weighed and weighed less than 200! Pretty
cool huh? First time I've been under 200 since summer 1999 and I was
probably an inch or two shorter then.

I think if I increase my workouts and maybe eat more fruits/veggies I
can make some big strides. I was really hoping I could realistically
weigh in the 170s (maybe 179) by the time I restart school, but that now
appears unlikely. However, I believe I can still do it if I work really
hard and if I don't quite get there, I'll get there a few weeks later. I
really can't cut anything out of my diet because it is really " just
right " for me, when I've cut back in the past I've gotten dizzy.
Perhaps on the weekends I could cut back a little more. And as I said,
I need to get more fruits and veggies in me too.

So...9 days shy of 6 months and I've lost 58 pounds. If I had waited
until next Wednesday I'd probably have lost the full 60 in six months.
That is good because I'm still averaging about 10 pounds per month over
the entire six months. I am happy, but I had a fantasy I would look
almost perfect (don't know what that would be, maybe 160-165) when I
restart school, but that was really unrealistic I guess. I'll get there
eventually though and perhaps walking around campus will help it come
off even quicker when I get back in school.

Do you guys think I'll continue to lose weight though? I won't get
stuck where I am now or anything, will I? I know I'm paranoid, but I'm
a bit obsessed with this now. I know that my spirit is most important
and my spirit/confidence is actually very very high (I can't express how
great I feel), I just want the body to match it. Plus, I drank like 60
ounces of water this morning, before I weighed, so that might have added
a pound or so. haha.

So, there is the update. Disappointing a bit, but I am still very
proud. Thanks for everyone's support, the 58 pounds I've lost in the
past six months, you all helped in making that happen! This group is
amazing.

Best wishes,

Yahoo! Those last 20 really are a pain for some people, but you can do it You may hit a plateau, but don't let that stop you! If you do find yourself stuck at a weight, do something different to shake things up: a new exercise, increase intensity, lower your calories, raise your calories....the body responds to all kinds of things. You are doing great and congrats on your loss so far!

I won't get > stuck where I am now or anything, will I? well, i dont know -- and maintaining is nothing to sneeze at -- but know that the idea is really to lose fat, not weight. there will become a point in your journey (and perhaps that time has already arrived) when the scale will begin to 'lie'. because it cant measure fat, water and muscle in your body -- so if one of those factors changes then the overall weight will be affected. as we know, muscle weighs more than fat but takes up a smaller space. there will become a time when you will need to rely on other measuring tools besides the scale. like clothes... maybe a measuring tape (although mine is also a liar) and perhaps a tanita scale which measures body fat percentage. that way, you can see that you are still making progress even if the scale says you are not. -carolyn. --- Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Today I ate roughly 1280 calories, but I also took the day off from working out. No way I can go below that and if the past holds up, I won't be able to go more than 2-3 days at below 1300 without starting to feel bad (dizzy for example). I think because I still weigh so much (195 pounds) it makes sense that I need need a fair amount of calories. I'd say 1500-1600 is my normal comfortable range for weekdays. I might push it a bit and try this 1200-1300 calorie range for a bit and see how it goes. >Obviously my >diet is playing a huge role in the weight I'm losing too. > > > >i still need help with this!! ugh!!! >please tell me about your eating plan. > > I'm embarrassed to share it. I don't know why, just seems personal to share what you eat. A large bit of it is frozen vegetarian foods. I know exactly what you mean. Especially with fruit for me, fruit really feels me up, especially in a smoothie. A smoothie a couple hours after dinner, that is the perfect dessert for me. I drink quite a lot of water. The past couple days I've drank a 48-ounce bottle before 9am. That is pretty common for me and I'd say I drink at least another 50 ounces the rest of the day. I love it! I've read before that half your weight in ounces is a good amount to drink. For example, I'd need to drink about 100 ounces per day. Well, I'm feeling pretty good now. Although I took that IQ test on FOX tonight and I was only above average. Oh well! :-( I wanted to be genius. haha. Best wishes,

Just my two cents, 1200 calories is much too low for a man. Men don't need to drop as low as women do to lose. I wouldn't do it... that's just me though

Do > you still want to know? im sorry!! i didnt mean to embarass you! i am just floundering away here, like a drowning woman who is trying to keep her head about water, when it comes to food. and i have been struggling with it for over a year. so, when i hear of anyone who is doing so well, as you are, i ask them what they eat. im eating better foods but i think that i still eat too much. im going to have to break down and start counting calories or i was thinking of joining weight watchers. can one do weight watchers for free??? i dont think that i would be able to go to meetings or anything like that. anyway, frozen vegetarian food? hmmm... part of me thinks that sounds appealing and part of me doesnt. i do like to eat meat -- chicken and turkey most of the time and a bit of beef once every couple of weeks. heck, i dunno what to do. i never dreamt that i would have so much trouble losing weight in my life!! > Well, I'm feeling pretty good now. Guest guest
There is a weekly fee if you go to the WW meetings (there's tons of free info on the 'net). The fees vary. When I was going, we had two prices $9 95, you had to go every week, but you got 3 free passes every 26 weeks. Then the $13 where you go whenever you want, but have to weigh in at least once a month. We hardly have registration fees out here, but it's $15, other places, I've heard $25-30 and there's only one choice. I don't know how much it would be in Canada. Basically, once you know your points range, you don't need to join. You can get the materials, just by walking in to a WW center. There are great sites like Dotti's (www.dwlz.com) and Toni's (www.tonibaby.com), that have points calculated for many foods and restaurants. I have a desktop calculator, to calculate food points and activity points I can forward on as well. I also have an excel spreadsheet where it will calculate the points for your favorite foods and you can keep it on hand to make it easier. You don't have to buy any special foods to do WW, the foods in the store are optional. They have some foods that you can only get at WW centers (breakfast and snack bars, smoothies), but again, those are optional as well They have an at-home program. It's $99 for 26 weeks of material. Guest guest
No, it's not difficult at all. It's based on your weight: Over 250 28-33 points (I believe over 250 have higher points, but that's out of my old book). 225 to 250 26-31 points 200 to 224 24-29 points 175 to 199 22-27 points 150 to 174 20-25 points Less than 150 18-23 points Then you can get additional points by working out and banking. They're also suppose to be launching a new program (some people say it's not out yet, while others say it is). Anywho, it's like you get a base points (i.e. 25) and then 25 flex points/week to figure out how you want to use them. So instead of having a daily range, you just have the base and then use the flex points as you wish each day. Instead on " banking " on a daily basis (that's when you save points each day and then use them for a special occasion or a " free " day during the week), you have the flex points bank to pull from.
