Guest guest
I guess most of you live alone. I have several family mebers who are not doing BFL. How do I work around them? They have choices to. Jas > > I have finally figured out why I cheat. Tends to be around the same > > time every night (7-8pm) and its carbs (cookies chips, etc). It's > out > > of boredom. Guest guest
Hi Jas - I'm not the expert that others are on the list - but here's what I do: 1. Eat much slower - so you take as long as they do to eat. You can do this by cutting stuff up smaller, chewing slower - since you don't finish ahead of others, it can ease the " Ok, I'm finished - boy do those rolls look great! " issues. 2. Add freebies - salad, veggies, etc. These are good for you and can help with everyone looking around from over their plate of food and seeing yours and giving you a hard time. 3. They *will* get over it. It only takes a few times, a few pounds, a few days. But they will. Like you say, they make choices, you have to be able to as well, without their complaining. I think though, perhaps the biggest is: 4. Above all else, think about how you feel when you stand up, are plenty full and know you've taken one more step. It's just one step. Might even be small, but it's a step. This is the killer one for me personally - it's like thumbing your nose at the plate and saying " see, I AM in charge and I can do this. " I like the last one - I feel good about that longer than I feel bad about not eating the same/same quantity as others. Interestingly, rather than just being ignored and them continuing to eat what they will, they all changed to what I'm eating. Cliché, yes, but " lead by example " helps too - if you're all eating better portions, better food, you all win. That one can take a bit of time (3-4 weeks maybe?) but what a rush when you realize things have slowly changed not only for you, but for others too... for the better. And you didn't even have to nag. I got grief from my kids on some of it. Then it turned to ignoring me, now they ask for the same thing I'm having. It IS worth it. I think eating is a " one encounter at a time " war. Win this one, move to the next, tune. Lather, rinse, repeat. I'm sure others will have better ways of saying it, but I hope this helps. Guest guest
Jas, What family members do you have? Wife and kids? How old are the kids? Guest guest
Well actually self control is really an issue here, how bad do you want this How bad do you want to feel good about yourself. Who is in control, you or the food. You have to make a decision to pick that food up and stick it in your mouth, the food doesnt make the decision for you and jump there. You have to love yourself enough to realize what you really want. Take a walk instead of watching tv, read a book, listen to music, meditate. Find one thing that will make you feel better and do it. Eating out of boredom is a habit that can be broken. Food is a fuel, food is a fuel. Chant that 20 times 3 times a day. It will help. Guest guest
This is the same person, and he was not booted off, just " identified " . I'm sorry for this gentleman that he's had a rough medical history, but like you say, many of us have. And like I learned when I worked with AIDS patients, just because someone has a disease does NOT mean they're automatically absolved of their other " issues " . A sick jerk is still a jerk. At some point you either stop using your medical history as an excuse and pull yourself up by your bootstraps, or you don't. If you don't, don't expect the universe to continue to coddle you. My solution? I'm going on " digest " so I can scroll past these negative messages and continue on my POSITIVE journey. Thanks to those of you who have shared your BFL advice and tips with me, harsh or not! :-) Have a great BFL day! > > > Well actually self control is really an issue here, how bad do you want this > > > > > > How bad do you want to feel good about yourself.
