Guest guest
Beth, Have you tried WALKING? My husband walks almost every day 4-6 miles. He says he can feel his body urging him to walk when he skips a day. You say you cannot afford to be treated by a doctor outside your insurance plan. I know it's awful the way insurance companies control what doctors we see. But what is the alternative? What do you really have if you don't have your health? What price do you put on your health? Sell a car... sell your furniture... sell your computer... cancel your internet connection, sell anything to get your diabetes under control and get your health back. Does your local hospital have a diabetes program? Ours does and I don't believe it costs anything. You might want to call your local hospital or a local Diabetes association. There must be a support group available near you. Start with the hospital. I hope you feel better soon. Let us know how's it going. Still High > My sugar this afternoon is still high. I checked it just now for the first time today and it's 350. Can anyone tell me how to get it down??? My MIL told me I need to exercise to get it down so I tried that but only ended up feeling worse and it didn't help. I'm getting rather frustrated. I'm calling around today trying to find a new Dr in my area but so far I have been unable to find one who accepts our insurance and Lord knows we can't afford to pay for the treatment for this. > > Beth > > >
Guest guest
Hi Beth... I will agree with an earlier post that mentioned you should lower your carbohydrate intake. If you do that for a couple of days, eating very little carbohydrate you will most likely see a precipitous drop in your blood sugars. In the meantime, see your regular physician. He/She should be able to either prescribe some medication or treatment to bring your blood sugars down. He may just recommend diet and excercise initially, which is usually the first line of treatment for T2. Or you may get a referral to a specialist if you ask. Limiting carbs now though should bring you down SIGNIFICANTLY in a short period until you can get to a doc. WVJoe Still High My sugar this afternoon is still high.
